Help me understand pokemon transfer from black and white.

Hey there escapists, I have a little conundrum that I've been trying to work around in my head. The last pokemon game I've played is Soul Silver, and I'd like to transfer the friends I made there to my pokemon Y game once the bank is opened up. However, I do not own any Black or White game. However, my best friend does and his plan was to take my pokemon from SS, keep them in his Black game, then when the bank comes out, transfer it to his X game, then trade it to my Y game.

My question is simple, will the pokemon still retain my character info even though it is "caught" by the other player during the transfer. I like to RP that my characters are descendants of my past characters and it's kinda important to me that the right name appears under Original Trainer.

The minigame doesn't actually count as "catching" the pokemon again. They retain all their original info from the SS game, including nicknames, original trainer, type of pokeball they are housed in and EVs and IVs.

Yeah OT name is what you're looking for and that will remain the same, even after the trade, so you'll see your old name on that Pokemon for as long as you keep transferring them.

Though X and Y are part new Pokemon, mostly Gen 1/2 Pokemon so you may not actually be disappointed with just catching most of the old ones again, as they're pretty actively available.

Seems that way. My friend and I aren't sure we want to start just yet without our respective favorites joining us for a few more months for just this reason. In the FAQ about the bank they stated it's too much a difference in technology to allow for regular trading.
