Help my PS3 Died

Hey guys, My PS3 Died and I was wondering if there was a way I could put the hard drive into a new PS3 without losing all of my Data, does it reformat it no matter what you do? My PS3 doesn't stay on, so I can't go back-up my data. HELP! Thanks.

Not so sure about whether you can remove your harddisk and put it in another machine, I think I've read somewhere it's not possible, unfortunately.

What I can say, however, is that before you abandon all hope, I urge you read my post on the issue of repairing a PS3. It's a guide to how to try and repair your PS3. I'm not trying to advertise or anything, but as I said in the post as well, I've done it and my PS3 still works without any problems.

Sometimes it works sometimes not. If I watches repair then you know the outcome.
It seems that Sony has made it extra hard to us to repair the damn ps3.

Nope, when you put a HDD in a different ps3 you have to reformat the drive. The data is lost if you didn't back up before your ps3 died.

I wonder if its possible for you to back up the info using a computer. The hard drive has to be compatible in some way, but what about the format?

I know the Xbox 360 hard drives have a transfer kit. I don't suppose the PS3 hard drives have something similar?
