I'm using my cousins laptop in case you're wondering how I'm doing this. My laptop just somehow got a virus, I don't know how but my brother was using it and said it just kind of happened (sounds like bullshit) but it won't let me use internet explorer or google chrome it just says "visiting this site may cause harm to your computer", but this is whenever I try ANY site, even obviously safe ones like youtube and google. It keeps directing me to a site called

marezer

It says its an antivirus site and it has 3 antivirus programs for sale. Thing is I'm not sure whether I should buy this or not. In case you're wondering, I have Norton (the apparant shit one) which I just renewed for £55 (AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH) but I do remember downloading from a site a while ago when my computer was infected and it fixed it completely for free. I can't remember the name of the site *bangs head against wall* but I was wondering should I download from marezer whoever they are or try to find the old one, which I have no idea how to do. I don't care if this is in the wrong section but I need help now, please.

(edited because marezer is the fucking source of the problem, sorry folks.)

Get Eset NOD32. The most reliable so far. For me anyway. >_>

First off i'd beat the pants out of your brother for infecting your computer. Then go to a professional shop and have it taken care of because 5 bucks says that the site is the one behind it.

Do not download from that site.

Try a System Restore.

If you have ever saved a backup, try loading that.

Try contacting Norton, as I've found Norton to be awesome.

If all else fails, hard drive wipe and fresh Windows install will do the trick.

It's in Control Panel. You might have to dig around a bit.

Norton sometimes acts weird though i've seen it jump on programs that aren't doing any harm.

If your computer is past the point of no return(nothing works anymore)then defintily a system restore is in order. Otherwise I might suggest you install microsoft security essentials. It's actually the antivirus that's supposed to be on windows already installed if it were not for norton and sympatec making sure they legally couldn't do that. I personally use clamwin which works well in scanning for viruses and it's free no less. advanced system care really cleans the system good.

Sorry to hear your a weak nerd and all I've seen that sort of relationship on television time and time again.

System restore didn't work. Ok I'm not sure whether it was system restore or not but it scanned for virues (OVER 4000! WTF) but it said that it could only scan, and that I needed to but the full version in order to fix it but it lead me back to that marezer site again. Any other suggestions.

Yep, definitely don't buy from that site as it's likely their malware in the first place.
You could try using a rescue disk/usb stick -
http://support.kaspersky.com/viruses/rescuedisk

You'd need to prepare it on your cousins laptop but this has the advantage of not booting into windows to work (however I've never used it myself, personally I'd just wipe the system and restore from a backup, always pays to be prepared :p )

Edit: Forgot to say... Wheeeeeeeeeeeee!!! first post!

Nowadays, just reformat. It is not worth your time to get rid of viruses usually. Anyways,

You didn't use system restore. It isn't a scanner, it resets your computer to an earlier configuration. Google how to access it on another computer. It probably will not help since most viruses infect system restore. You need to get an anti-virus onto your comp. I suggest Malewarebytes. Since you can't access the internet, you'll be getting onto the infected computer from another one ala jump drive. Their forum has tips on how to do this properly. Also, if that doesn't succeed (it'll at least get rid of most stuff), go to their forums for help.

You could try this, http://www.cleanpcguide.com/remove-marezer-com-how-to-remove-marezer-com/

or this http://blog.teesupport.com/how-to-guide-remove-marezer-com-marezer-removal-guide/

Seems marezer.com is 1st big bug of the new year.

From site "Marezer.com is determined by Tee Support Labs as browser hijacker. Marezer.com is another malicious domain that promotes for notorious rogue anti-spyware Antivirus Scan. Marezer.com hijacks your browsers and keep redirecting you to the Antivirus Scan purchase site whatever you intend to put in the address bar. Marezer.com composes fake alerts claiming that your computer is infected and try to push you to buy Antivirus Scan to remove virus which doesn't exist at all. But in fact Antivirus Scan is responsible for all the chaos on your computer. Don't fall into the trap, remove Marezer.com as soon as possible."

Okay if you still can explore the net or at least transfer an exe file to your computer then get the following programs for your computers which I'm assuming is Windows.

Microsoft security essentials-probably the best FREE antivirus anti-trojan program you can get. Plays nice with Windows so you don't have longer boot times. A huge improvement over anivra.

Ad-aware- great and free for basic spam and more trojan finding.

if it is malware then you might want to try a more dedicated program like this

Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware- Good program that gives you a report every scan.

As for your brother, talk to him about what sites he has been visiting and tell him to stop it. Use a better web browser like mozilla or chrome or at least IE 8.

If you don't run windows, then sorry can't help ya.
This guys advice is good. thought I'd just add a little.

Firstly, the website you are being sent to by your computer is the virus, it's a virus designed to scam some money off you. The virus scanner you'd buy would be useless. Do not buy it.

On your cousins computer download for free, you don't need the paid versions of of these:
http://www.lavasoft.com/single/trialpay.php

http://download.cnet.com/Avast-Free-Antivirus/3000-2239_4-10019223.html?part=dl-85737&subj=dl&tag=button

Put the installers on a usb stick or your phone or ipod or whatever, transfer them onto your infected computer.

Start your computer in safe mode. This is usually done by tapping the F8 key while your computer is starting up. Install ad-aware and run a complete scan, don't access the internet at this time. Once it's done, this could take a long time, install avast and do the same.
Hopefully you'll then have a clean computer.

If it asks you to restart after installing either program you can just make sure you restart into safe mode using the F8 key again.

Restart into normal windows and register the products online if they ask you to, I know avast used to, not sure if they still do.

If you're still infected try malware bytes or spybot: search and destroy.

EDIT: One more thing, I wouldn't continue paying for norton, in fact if you're going to use avast or any other anti-virus program you'll want to uninstall norton as two anti-virus programs won't get on well together.
