Once your done laughing please help, skyrim just wont load just as it gets to the main menu to select new game it quits to windows.
Ive tried multiple graphic settings through the launcher and all of the compatibility options through admin reinstalled and verified what the hell?
This is the first game to have a problem. My PC can run BF3 on ultra at 50fps so its not power.

Any ideas??

Win7 64bit
GTX-580
i7 970@3.2ghz
6GB ram

Cry a bit.

The obvious is always try updating a few drivers to make sure they are ready to go. Sound too, not just video.
Got the new beta drivers from nvidia no new sounds drivers since feb

My worst nightmare comes true.

Who wants to bet this will happen to me once GABE NEWELL MOVES HIS FAT FUCKING ASS AND UNLOCKS THE FUCKING GAME ON STEAM GOD FUCKING DAMN IT GABE I SHOULD BE ABLE TO PLAY SINCE 8 MINUTES!!!!
Every time you make a fat joke about Newell, Episode 3 gets pushed back a month. Have you no shame?

OP: VALVe runs on VALVe time. Literally. It isn't 11/11/11 at VALVe HQ, so I don't know if they'd have fully unlocked the game yet. Wait till Steam updates?

You're not the only one. A friend of mine is having the exact same problem. Neither graphics nor sound driver updates have resolved the crash. Running in safe mode might, but who wants to play a game in that state?

She's contacting Bathesda tech support now, and I'm buying an early Christmas present to ease her disappointment.

I hope you've had better luck OP. If you have, maybe you could update this thread? If not, contact Bathesda also. And see if one of your friends won't ease your disappointment. =P

Or, you know, the day is still November 10, 2011. So the game is not out. Therefore you will not be able to play the game at all until midnight wherever Bethesda is.

The game comes out tomorrow in stores. Of course no one will legitimately be able to play Skyrim until the clock reaches 12:00 AM Friday.

Actually, I'm playing the game right now. It released about 5 minutes past midnight, 11/11/11 for me. (UK)

What about people across the Date Line? Or in front of it, I dunno but I think it's 11/11/11 somewhere in the world right now

OP! Got a fix for you.
This solved it for my friend.

"Start -> Control Panel -> Sound

Select the output speakers being used and click Properties

Under the advanced tab, change the sample rate to 24 bit / 44100 Hz"

Try your old drivers beta drivers might have a problem with it. Is it giving any error messages or just going 'hurk' and falling over dead?

Lucky for me I live in Australia, also steam doesn't let you install the game untill released got the retail copy in the mail 8 hours before midnight release, so that was great to get it early and not work.

Works, SKYRIM works. Such a simple fix too awesome thanks for the help.
Also how did you come up with the idea to change that little setting?

He/she probably got it off the internet. I found the fix in 5 minutes cause I had the same problem as you and it worked wonderfully. But I have to wonder, why doesn't the game warn you about the nature of the problem with a error? It just crashed to the desktop after the skyrim sign and that's it. Needless to say, I was very pissed off for 10 minutes thinking I couldn't play the game that I bought.
