help with a quest on witcher 2 pleasee

i am trying to start the hung over quest in act 1 however when i enter the baracks there is nothing going on, am i supposed to progress to a certain point in the main storyline first?

what smash said, if you actually started the hung over quest and...*lost your stuff*, then you'll be told at some point to find the mistress and she is downstairs in the tavern..and then it should explain itself from there.
