But no, it was the games. It was likely because he played GTA V even though it wasn't out yet when the shooting occurred...
:p Well I fucking called that one. God I hate being right so often.

Not much more to really say on the topic though other than "ignorant jackasses are ignorant". It's not the guns' fault. It's not the games' fault. It's not the movies' fault. Personal responsibility, folks. There's fucked up people out there...and a whole lot of them at that. They'd going to do fucked up things for fucked up reasons. They don't need any outside source or reason to do the things they do. This guy was about as mentally deranged and messed up as you could get...is there really a need to blame this on anyone/anything other than the man's own craziness?

Well of course there is, because "craziness" isn't something we can vilify and campaign against. Games? Movies? Guns? Music? Those are all things we can demonize and turn into scapegoats to make ourselves feel like we're doing something to try and prevent things like this from happening again.

Seriously read that NRA piece. If you can not spot the sarcasm LaPierre is throwing around there, you are missing the point.

?Were it not for Grand Theft Auto V?released mere hours after this heinous act?12 people would still be alive,? asserted LaPierre. ?What will it take for the American people to stand up and say, ?Enough is enough?? When will the heartless criminals at Rockstar Games be made to answer for these outrages??

LaPierre also outlined preventative measures he believes could help avert future calamities from occurring.

?If videogames were not so widespread and easy to get your hands on, this horrible act might never have happened,? LaPierre said. ?It?s high time Congress and our president backed sensible video game regulation. Anybody that wants to purchase a copy of Grand Theft Auto V must undergo a background check, a psychological evaluation, and a five-day waiting period. Most importantly, all copies of the game must be kept under lock and key when not in use.?

Many adults leave their video games and consoles lying out in the open where children can find them,? said NRA member Justin Morrow of Harrisburg, Mississippi. ?Why, just the other day, I walked into my friend?s living room and his five-year-old was trying to set up the Xbox 360. I couldn?t believe it. Given how many unaccounted-for video games there are lying around, it?s a wonder there aren?t more horrible acts of violence.?

Come on folks, it's called subtext. He is clearly making an analogy about the ridiculousness of blaming guns for gun crimes, by stating that we should apply the same rules for gun purchases to violent video game purchases. It is ridiculous to even consider and he knows that. He is merely using that to associate the ridiculousness to blaming the gun and not the shooter.

They're blaming GTA V. Despite the fact that the game wasn't even out yet when the shootings took place. ...Seems legit -_-

To be fair, they also blamed Mortal Kombat previously. The NRA is like Jack Thompson in mob form. Or like PETA, just nobody has realized how dumb they are yet.

Seriously, I saw GTA V being blamed for this a while away. The NRA doesn't use fancy things like logic or reasoning. They got guns to do the talking for them.
