Wow... So the degenerating into a garage band sound started in St Anger sound is complete with the addition of Lou Reeds Lyrics. I get that this is not a Metallica album. It is a collaborative thematic album. But really, Wow.
The problem I have here is that First off, Mixing an erratic stoner semi spoken word lyrical style provided by Reed, with a rigid hard rock styling does not mesh well. And secondly this really sounds like a product that was produced with as close to zero energy exerted as humanly possible.
The "theme" does not seem all that interesting, The musicians of the group seem to have no ambition and the Vocals of the group seem to have no heart or even a purpose as if Reed is being random just for the sake of being random. I might not be a huge metallica fan, but I am able to appreciate when they do a decent job on things. This however, at least based on this one track is not it. And Lou Reed is long past relevance.
