Featuring Lou Reed on vocals. This has to be one of the most boring songs I've ever heard in my life. Horrible vocals, two guitar riffs, and a solo so bad I could've played a better one with my eyebrows. Dear God why won't this band DIE?

Lmao. It's an official link to an officially released song.
I think it was a clever satirical jab at Lars Ulrich's bitching about music sharing.

OT: The song is just poor. Lou Reed's spoken word parts work on his own music, but on a Metallica song it is just disinteresting. Metallica themselves just stick to playing the same boring and simple riffs throughout. Hardly as experimental or daring as I was hoping

I should note that this is one of the few times I've ever heard Lou Reed "sing." I wasn't feeling it. I don't feel Bob Dylan, either. That man was made to be covered.

But that was terrible. I shut it the hell off about halfway through. When Hattfield said he was these ten stories. The music and "singing" did not seem to go together at all. Probably why Velvet Underground used more folk guitar than heavy metal electric guitar.

The lyrics are kind of lame, but find me a rock n roll song without lame lyrics and I'll show you a blues song.

It just didn't seem to be going anywhere. I'm not sure if it's the singing or the generic heavy guitar growling, but it just kind of lay there on the floor like a pet goldfish that finally escaped.

In short, I didn't care for it. I never cared much for Metallica, anyway. So no big deal.

I know, I know, that's why I started the post with 'lmao' because I thought it was pretty funny. Still, I put it up there just to prevent this thread from getting deleted for piracy or something. Just to make sure.

Well, I can't say I'm not surprised that a Lou Reed-Metallica collaboration is terrible.

It's not even bad in a funny way, just so boring it makes me want to puke. Why the fuck would they release this?

As a massive metallica fan, this makes me really disappointed.
Lou Reed's vocals sound so monotonous, I had to force myself to listen through the entire song...

Just like all the recent Metallica stuff it's long, drawn out and boring...matches them vocals quite well :p

Bet Dave Mustaine is laughing his pants off )

I fully plead guilty to liking some new Metallica, All Nightmare Long was a really fun song imho. But yeah. This... thing. Can we even call it an actual song? Shouldn't a song contain music?

Metallica: "Hey man, here's $5, can you read this piece of paper for us?"

Reed: "Make it $10."

Wow... So the degenerating into a garage band sound started in St Anger sound is complete with the addition of Lou Reeds Lyrics. I get that this is not a Metallica album. It is a collaborative thematic album. But really, Wow.

The problem I have here is that First off, Mixing an erratic stoner semi spoken word lyrical style provided by Reed, with a rigid hard rock styling does not mesh well. And secondly this really sounds like a product that was produced with as close to zero energy exerted as humanly possible.

The "theme" does not seem all that interesting, The musicians of the group seem to have no ambition and the Vocals of the group seem to have no heart or even a purpose as if Reed is being random just for the sake of being random. I might not be a huge metallica fan, but I am able to appreciate when they do a decent job on things. This however, at least based on this one track is not it. And Lou Reed is long past relevance.

You mean "melody"? This song is music. Lousy music, in my opinion, but music nonetheless.

I agree.

And this, members of the prestigious peanut gallery, is why Megadeth is my favorite. It's because of that....that....shit right there is coming from Metallica.
