Ok, so watch that and tell me what you think.

Hetalia Axis Powers is based on a webmanga about world history enacted by anthropomorphised countries. There are jokes based on world history not just from World War II but also the flashback sequences to the Renaissance and what not. Some say this show is too controversial, but I reckon it's kinda funny when you think about it. Many of the jokes are very clever even if you look past the man-candy bishonen interpretations of nations. Italy is depicted as the least manly of the countries, but Germany is supposed to be his tough captor in this episode I've shown here.

Answer me this, is this one of the most original anime concepts in years, or some sick joke spawned by Satan in hell to drive anyone who watches it mad? For me, I watched it and I'm still relatively normal... *twitches*

I haven't seen it myself, but from what I've heard from my friends it's really good.
I see no problem with it. It's taking a light-hearted view on a dark event; if that's bad, why are World War II games any better?

I haven't heard an awful lot about this show (other than the obvious stuff that gets front-paged on DeviantART every day), and according to that stuff, the show is also yaoi. I'm assuming that's incorrect? I mean it doesn't matter to me either way, but a simple yes or no would denote whether I'd look into it more.

The show is not yaoi, the fangirls and fujoshis MAKE it yaoi with their dirty, dirty minds. Rotten girls, they ruin a perfectly innocent world history satire!

I've been meaning to look for the comic, since the concept just sounds so entertainingly absurd (and I rather liked the similarly-premised, differently-executed Afganis-tan). The anime looks pretty funny, too!

SCAMola... I can't IMAGINE what you must be feeling having your country depicted as a wuss.
Mmm, I'm not sure how I'm supposed to feel.
Saying that the Axis powers lost WWII because of Italy seems like a bit of a trivialization of the whole matter. Also, it doesn't seem to be too critical of Germany or Japan (big surprise there).

Then again, I haven't seen much of the anime or manga, so maybe I'm wrong.

Well, okay then. This might warrant a look, in that case.

Hetalia is excellent. It might even be accurate in some places.

I don't see how you could seriously consider it wrong... unless you live in Korea I suppose.

Did you do the text search or the image search first? I want to know how hard I should burst out laughing.

To quote the great Shakespeare: "ROFLMAO!"

Seriously though, that was hilarious. Thanks for introducing me to a good show!

Hetalia is one of my favorite series right now, Infact my Avatar is Hungary. The Webcomic is actually better; the anime was watered down to make it appropriate for all ages (It took out the constant gay rape jokes... I'm surprised france wasn't completely censured from the series)

I think its an amusing show, and is even a good educational show to a point (helps memorize all the European Countries at least). I understand Korea was freaking out about their portrayal in the series (as an annoying egotistical pervert), but honestly... Russia is the only portrayal that I felt bad for (a bit mentally disturbed and evil "Yandere") France is a perverted sex-addicted nudist homosexual pedophile, but its manga has a way of making the most disturbing things amusing.
