The thread title is a daily reoccurring discussion I give to my brother. Particularly, the "no" part.
Wait, do you and your brother live in the same house?

The way I see it, everyone gets one chance. If I lend a game/dvd/CD out and it comes back in decent time and the same condition it was in when I lent it, then fine. But if anything is wrong with it, that person doesn't get anything of mine again.

Hell no! Most of my friends are dodgy and without fail always manage to lose or break things I lend them. The only person I swap games with is my brother who is anally retentive about keeping things in mint condition. My other brothers aren't allowed near my stuff and my sister isn't allowed to borrow things because she loses things and her house smells.

I've never lent a game out before, but I wouldn't have a problem if I was asked. As long as i'm not playing it at the time.

I'm still borrowing a friend's game, but I'm not playing the game much at all. Since he's prone to mood swings and been known to break his own game discs and such, I consider it "safeguarding" his investment. If he can't break it, I won't have to hear him gripe about how he shouldn't have done that later.

Yeah, he's an interesting guy.

I generally don't loan things out much, myself, because EVERY TIME I do, they come back in significantly worse shape than they were in before said loan. In fact, some of my "friends" at different times in my life were so worthless, just letting them USE my stuff for any length of time would often end up with them breaking it. Even the friends I like don't take very good care of my stuff when I loan it out. I don't know why this is.

When I borrow somebody else's stuff, I might take a while to return it (I'll always return it quickly if they ask for it back), but you can be assured the item will be in pretty much the exact condition it was lent out in.

Sure, I've even lent my wii to a guy I didn't know very well in my drama class while I was still in high school and my 360 to a friend of my ex-girlfriend back when we were still going out.

Got both of them back undamaged.

It's not that I'm overly trusting, I just have a knack of being able to tell who I can trust. So far it's been very accurate.

Wow, you have been lucky... I don't think I could ever lend out my PS3, I just don't have that kind of faith in people...

back when I was a kid I use to quite often... load my bag up with NES games, my friends would do the same, and we'd swap them around more often than a lone Wench on a pirate ship.. granted every cartage had your last name written on the back..

Now it's not so much an issue.. I had a neighbor I traded with now and then... but in most cases My friends are late 20's-mid 30's and have a much deeper disposable income, so if they play something on our weekly (hang out and get drunk at Adena's house)that they like, there is a good chance they just go buy it the next day...or in some cases get a game they want ( for our play nights) and leave it at my place.. think I have like 5 guitars for GH here, only 2 of them mine * lol

I swap and lend games with my best friend - he hasn't given me a reason not to trust him yet! Actually, I'm pickier about lending books than games...

I give games to, and get games from everybody I know, but we have a simple agreement. If the game is returned more scratched than it already was(starting to get read errors), or if it no longer works(broken disc etc.), you buy a new game.

EDIT: spelling

I loan out my games all the time. Of course, I have few to no untrustworthy friends, comes with having a relatively small pool and being careful who I call friends.

Once I lent my entire NES pirate cartridges to a friend. That was the end of my NES era and the beginning of my PC era...
But it's OK - then he lent me RTCW and No One Lives Forever. Nice games, really nice...

I loaned COD:WAW to my friend, although i usually don't lend games out until i've finished them once myself (especially ones which are so short).
But it wasn't particularly holding my interest so i loaned him it anyway.

Anyway, he must've had it about 2-3 weeks when he came to me and said "The game doesn't run properly and theres a huge scratch in it.
Now usually i would've been furious, and i could feel my annoyance growing. But he then pulled out a gamestation bag from his backpack and handed it to me.
He'd actually been out and bought a new copy of COD:WAW for me, because he felt so guilty for breaking it.

So that has increased my trust in loaning games to him. Most other people can go to hell though.

depending on who it is and what the want to borrow i'm usually OK with it. if i'm playing it i'll say no, even if i've already completed it but otherwise it's fine. besides, if a friend does borrow a game, i usually borrow one off them that i haven't played.

Yeah... I trust my friends a heap. Usually though I'm swapping my PS3 for a 360 or something similar so there's kind of a guarantee which helps.
