I'm going to have to say Deadly Premonition.

I won't give spoilers but the final confrontation with the Raincoat Killer takes the piss... even after the character goes all Super Saiyan, all you have to do is keep shooting your infinite ammo machine gun at their chest and they'll eventually die with no problem, as your bullets deflect the throwing axes that are aimed at your face.

Then, when you think that's game over, nope, another boss gets thrown at you with attacks that he telegraphs months in advance, and his weak point is so obvious it's not even funny.

It's a shame, because I loved the game until that point...

Final Fantasy X. And, in comparison to the rest of the game, Shank.
...I take it you mean Sin. Penance has been voted one of the hardest bosses in any game.

OT: halo 3, mass effect (I can talk my way through half the battle?), mass effect 2, fallout new vegas (I can talk my way through the entire battle??) and Gears of war 2 (I'm a firning my lazooor)

Grandia 2.

Valmar's Heart was probably the most difficult boss, requiring several attempts, whereas on my latest playthrough the final boss (above) didn't land a single hit.

There are spoilers in most of my entries.

I was going to use BioShock as my example but you already did. Really sad, Fontaine only has two moves. I didn't need a single health kit.

Borderlands. Shoot a bit. Dodge a bit. Rinse and repeat. Meh.

Doom 3: Resurrection. Betruger ought to have been ashamed of himself to come back as something so easy to kill.

Fallout 3. You talk the boss to death. Literally.

Portal. Just drop them in the incinerator? You're serious?

Portal 2. Same deal, more or less. It comes down to hitting a stationary target and watching a cutscene.

Quake 2. I put the Makron (sp?) down and was like, really? That's ALL ya got??

The point of the fallout games is that you can do what you will, normally it's a choice between sneaky/speech/hacking(or explosives)/attacking.
It's so any character build can finish the game, though this became somewhat defunct in Fallout 3 when every character could max most skills without even trying.

Which is why the thread is for easy bosses, not original ones.

I was offended at the ease with which I dispatched Eden, as I suspect were a great many others. Therefore, he fits OP's question. What I thought was, How come no one killed Eden before me? Hell, given how unstable he was, and how easy to send him over the edge, how is it some janitor mumbling to himself about the unfairness of life while cleaning the place didn't cause Eden to self-terminate? Chosen one, indeed.

Castlevania SotN, killed the last boss in a few seconds only taking a few 1 dmg shots.
Shield Rod + Alucard Shield FTW! Honestly though, after unlocking over 200% in that game, I was glad to have a boss I could easily crush with my acquired awesomeness. I'm just ready to be done at that point.

Metal Gear Solid.

Hey, you want some boss fights? Okay! Fight a gunslinger! Fight a tank! Fight a helicopter! Fight a mind reader with a goofy secret trick! Fight a gatling gun guy using your mines and nikitas! Fight freaking Metal Gear on foot!

... okay, here comes Liquid. Time for the big showdown. Punch, punch, kick. Run over here. Punch, punch, kick. Don't let him bull-charge you. Punch, punch, kick. Thanks for the memories.
Oh come now, you basically beat Liquid 4 separate times and still don't manage to kill him, that was just a small part of an otherwise epic sequence. But, uh, yeah that segment was kinda weak in comparison.

I actually thought MGS4 was worse, if only for the sheer inconceivability and stupidity of it all. It was just like MGS, only dumber.

But remember that, as with any narrative, there is a climax. If a game's denouement claims to have a final boss, such as Bioshock's, then that final boss should be a climax, a point where all of the events of the story thus far are resolved. The strength of a game is its interactivity, so part of this climax should be a final boss that not only resolves the story but also should be a sort of "climax" of the skill the player has gained. In order for it to be a satisfying ending, this final boss must be a real and honest threat. Something that is more powerful than any enemy the player has faced before.
I think that, more than simply having a threatening boss, the point is that the stakes and risk are both very high. But the important thing here, in terms of a climax, is not necessarily that the risk actually be high, but that the player feels the risk is high. Consider the scene near the beginning of the first Modern Warfare, when the boat is sinking and the player must escape. Honestly, you keep running and you'll get out of there just fine. But with everything exploding around you and the ship tilting at a 45-degree angle, that doesn't matter; you're freaked out and running for your life. That's what made the sequence great; the perceived risk, even if there wasn't actually much.

In an RPG, where your skills and abilities are increasing and expanding throughout the game, I would agree with you in most cases. Also in a game like Portal 2, where you continue learning new things and using new tools throughout the game, I would also agree in most cases. I just think it's important that we not lose sight of the impact an ending can have regardless of challenge; too often we put gameplay and challenge on the pedestal as the absolute most important aspect of a video game, and if a game doesn't measure up in those categories its other merits are entirely void.

I was pretty upset with how quickly you can down Kessler in InFamous. Maybe it'll be different when I play through again on Hard rather than normal, but still dude went down hella quickly.

Except for the first one, Tiamat, the Darksiders bosses were fairly lame (in terms of difficulty). The final boss was just an exercise in timing and came down to how well you could mash a button in a quick time event.

The first boss was only hard because you didn't have that much health at the start of the game.

Im gonna go with blue dragon (only becuase fable 2 has already been said enough), after leveling up to insane levels to kill the king poo and golden mecha, theres nothing like being greated by a really easy final couple of fights (not including the really cheap unwinnable bits).

The only real boss in Halo, Guilty Spark. Heroic Brutes can survive more Spartan Lasers hits than him. Thank christ the weak ass soccer ball went to Silicon Hell.

Portal 1 and 2 but i know it's not the bossfights but the levels through the game that was the purpose, did love the way they made P2's bossfight compared to P1

The first thing that popped to mind was Fable 2 that had the most dissapointing final boss ever. If you don't count it as Lucien (and why would you) then it's a giant triangle. The boss in Fable III wasn't really any better. Why can't they just have another boss battle that was as epic as Jack of Blade at the end of Fable.

Then of course all the "bosses" in Batman: Arkham Asylum y'know the ones. The ones you don't actually fight, all they villains do is sit on the sidelines cheerleading for their thugs to fight you. Poison Ivy was the only boss in the game you could actually consider a boss.

Mass Effect 2. The suicide mission was really good it got you really psyced for the end boss. Fighting your way through loads of Collectors with the awesome theme music playing and then you get to the boss annnnnnnnd it's a giant Terminator.

Uncharted: Drake's Fortune "quick hide behind cover don't let him shoot you! quick he's reloading get him now! *punch punch kick* quick get behind that crate he's getting up! he's reloading again! get him! *punch punch kick* hey look you won!

I could go on but I can't be bothered.

YES. USE SPOILER TAGS, PEOPLE. Nothing has been spoiled for me, but I know how annoying it can be. :p

Before anyone argues "Well it's a thread about final bosses, what do you expect?", not all of us have beaten every final boss ever so would be nice to pick and choose what we don't want spoiled.

Anyway, I can think of a few:

Mithos. Absolute pushover. Was never the hardest RPG but I remember I completely destroyed Mithos without even trying. Very unsatisfying.

I felt the game really fell apart in the last third, but the God awful ending and piss poor battle with Chopin that's over in 2 minutes flat was a tremendous kick in the teeth and left a horrible taste in my mouth.

Not only do they recycle the same battle with Bowser you have done numerous times throughout the game but they go and bloody do it again in the sequel! Too predictable and too easy, very disappointing.

Ocelot. Was admittedly pretty epic but was way too easy, might as well have been a cutscene. When compared to the likes of The Boss from MGS3 which is one of my favourite bosses of all time, it reaaaally falls short.

Well, let's start by saying NOT The Legend of the Dragoon. Megaman II, definitely. Aaaand as for the more modern era, the very last er...confrontation...sequence in MGS4 was a let-down.
Are you serious? Beating your destined enemy to death with your bare hands on top of a giant battleship, with the setting sun in the background? It's pretty epic if you don't just cheap out, and try to play it like a real fight.
Storyline epic, absolutely. That doesn't mean it wasn't disappointingly easy. I was hoping for my destined enemy to at least put up a decent fight to end the series.
