Hey. Isn't this a Utopian future?

I mean, come on. We can love, hate, rage, and do whatever we want. At least in Canada.
So please, stop whining about how miserable your life is. It's fan-fucking-tastic.

You go home, open a can of pop, turn on your PS3, and complain about how much your life sucks because your internet failed. Mhm.

If this was Utopia, sex robots indistinguishable from real humans would be serving my every desire, and I could cease thinking whilst remaining blissfully ignorant of their vicegrip on the world we once called our own.

Edit: Also on a serious note, your life is as utopian as you make it according to the circumstances.

Wha-? I don't... B-but... I-

Heh, life can be good, bad, or fan-fucking-tastic for you depending on where you are, but its not to say all the time. Besides, I always thought the utopian future would have flying cars.

....I also don't have a ps3. Or a can of pop.

Yup, sounds good.
BUT ON A SERIOUS NOTE.
People need to stop being so whiny.
Looking at you, emo kids.

Utopia? No. But we do live in the safest and most privileged period in all of human history. We have much less to ***** and gripe about than any previous generation. This, my friends, is paradise (especially if you live in Canada).

Well, technically Utopia can't exist since it more or less literally translates to "nowhere."

And don't get me started on just how screwed up the world is. I will break out data up to and including a full essay on human trafficking and slavery.

It's the idea that counts. Don't be so literal.

Canada is my favorite country. Glad I live here.

I'd give it a decade tops till that happens.

This thought has also crossed my mind a few times. We are gods on this planet, we can make anything we want happen. So why the hell is everyone so wrapped up in stupid shit like the economy?

But if you did have that, you might say something like "Geez, if this were really a Utopia I wouldn't have to clean out my sex-bot every once and a while." or "If this were really a Utopia I would be able to instantly transport anywhere I wanted to any time I wanted." It's just never enough.

It's not a Utopian future, but it's pretty damn awesome. We like to focus on what we can't do when we should focus on what we can.

Right. We're in agreement that it's damn close to perfection?
Good.
Except you, hittite. Horrible things happen everywhere. But it's much, much, MUCH less now then ever before.

Actually, the clean-bots would clean the sex-bots. And you wouldn't have to travel anywhere, because you would know nothing beyond sex-bots. Utopia is impossible without blissful ignorance and uniformity.

I guess it wouldn't really be a utopia for the clean-bots, though...

Ew. Uniformity.
Well, absolute perfection is impossible. Humans are too damn complicated. But my point is, people are very whiny and n00by and generally taking things for granted.

No we aren't. We are far from perfection. Sure if we don't look beyond our borders we can argue that but no we can't. You have to narrow view or too narrow scope of "society". Crime is too high for utopia, poverty is too high, etc. I am just looking within borders of the U.S. and Canada. Look at Africa and you have a dystopia. Although, middle class and above in Canada and the U.S. (at the very least) yeah I would definitely say this is as close to perfection as it gets.

Meh, I'm a pessimist, a cynic and I really enjoy dark humor. This leads to a tendency to focus on the negative of any situation. That being said, good job calling my bluff. I'm way too lazy to actually look up any relevant info right now.

And the cleaning process would be like hot lesbian sex.

C'mon... You were probably thinking of it too.

Because of this thread, I realized that my life is a paradox. I am in utopia, because it isn't utopia. I have said it multiple times that I would think a perfect world would be boring. Because the world isn't boring, it's fun for me. So then it's perfect for me. But the world itself is imperfect. OH CRAP, MY HEAD HURTS.

That's exactly how it works, though =) If it's perfect, everyone must be the same. Thus, it wouldn't be perfect because there is no individuality. Utopia is impossible. At least on the personal level, but if you take it out of the personal level, it becomes a distopia.
