So today I started a new Dragon Age campaign as a Mage.
MINOR SPOILERS BUT WHATEVER
So when Jowan wants you to destroy his blood thing and help him escape I said sorry I don't wanna get involved. I found there was no way to go on in the game so I talked to the one guy (first enchanter?) and I denied everything about Jowan he told me he knew everything and to do it for Jowan so he can catch him (he gets caught no matter what) there was no option to refuse. So I go to Jowan wanting to warn him that he knows and if he does this his girlfriend will get caught to. There was no option for that either. So after taking him to the point of no return I finally get the option to tell him (since he'll get caught no matter what) only it says I told the first enchanter I DIDNT TELL HIM HE TOLD ME HE ALREADY KNEW but whatever. So Jowan decides hey maybe we can still get away I pretty much tell him they're waiting so he ruins everything by performing blood magic.
Now I get that game developers can't program EVERY choice but come on that just felt like lazy development. So when has something like this annoyed you and are there any games that let you choose to do WHAT YOU WANT?

Your spoiler tags are the wrong way around the [/spoiler] goes at the end.

For some reason Witch hunt glitched and Morrigan spent the entire time accusing my warden of things I'd not done, sometimes the opposite of what I'd done.

I also had a fight in DA2 glitch where the cinematic after a boss fight played and then looped, the entire thing was supposed to be really shocking and tense but was ruined. Not the same but it's still annoying.

I find plenty of times in games they have stupid options, it's just one of those things.

I got that in NWN2 a couple of times.

Adding to this, the choices you do sometimes make actually have effects completely illogical to what your reaction was.

As far as I know no game to date as had a solely HERP DERP response to every single conversion. Although Commander Shepard does come close at times.

Oblivion almost never lets you make decisions during questlines;

*Mages Guild (the necromancers)
*Fighters Guild (Blackwood)
*Main Quest (Mystic Dawn)
*Thieves Guild (Heironymous Lex, or just the Imperial Watch/legion in general)

In fact, most of the time when talking to people during quests you're only given one dialogue option when it comes to advancing the conversation.

LA Noire was a shocker for this. You never really knew what Cole was going to do when you pressed a button. He might politely doubt them or accuse them of genocide.

Everything has it's limits and in dialog options you will always get that - "no I want to say something else!" feeling.

But don't worry DA2 fixes it by removing dialog options, just pick good, bad or standup comedy.

That annoyed me so much when I wanted to join the gang of women thieves who seduce men and take there shit and was petty much forced to say HEY IM HERE TO KILL YOU AND IM SORRY BUT I CANT SAY ANYTHING ELSE at least dragon age wasn't this bad (mostly).

Which is yet another reason that Morrowind is superior.

Anyway, welcome to developer's budgets. Want dialogue choices? Check these indies out:

I haven't even finished the demo of Avadon (1.5 hours in) and you have plenty of dialogue options to mix it up, I think.
Geneforge is an amazing series, I haven't even downloaded the Avadon demo yet.

OT: There will always be times like this, the writers can't forsee absolutely every response possible. Spiderweb does a great attempt though, I've never once not seen a response I knew I wanted.

Yeah there are more examples, I just said the main ones.

Another would be the arena where you're forced to join the blue team. Even stranger is why the battle maiden (or whatever she's called) and blademaster are both located in the blue bloodworks. Do the yellow team have their own version of these two people? It's never really explained.

All of Persona 3 FES. The Answer bit anyway.
When everyone was bitching about the keys, I agreed with Junpei. It was exactly what I wanted to do, but no, Aigis is a little girl who just mutters around and forces me to fight everyone.
I got to beat the shit out of Yukari, so that was cool, but jesus, The Answer was not very good.
Also Oblivion.
