Hideo Kojima's Key Note Speech mentioned a possible new Metal Gear.
Funny how he keeps talking about not wanting to work on another Metal Gear since MGS2.

Game Trailers has the Clip, He mentions it around 3:30.

He lies. Err, about not making any more games.

Why stop what makes some people die for you?

I need to admire him for his urge to *NOT* to squeeze the MGS franchise to its last drop though.

As long as he doesn't screw up the franchise, I don't care.

Just slow down Kojima, you'll turn into George Lucas at this rate.

Well, I wouldn't mind it, as long as he let sleeping dogs lie and make it a sort of spin-off that maintains the gameplay...
But knowing him, I somehow doubt it.

That moron, he's supposed to be making Zone of the Enders 3, i.e, something actually GOOD. Yeah, he's one of these guys that wants to be respected as an "artist" but at the same time doesn't have the guts to turn down the tons of money fanboys will throw at him for churning out more and more MGS.

Now, I liked MGS3: Subsistence a lot, but the ZOE universe just has so much unexplored potential. Just imagine what a next-gen ZOE experience could be like! ZOE 2 was mind-blowing on the PS2. It's unfathomable how great a sequel on a next-gen system could be.

But I don't like Kojima. He's the Shinji Mikami of Konami-he'll say or do anything to make a buck.

The fuck? Relax, there has been no real statement at all... Don't get worked up on the basis of rumors. Besides, he wasn't too much involved into the making of Zone of the Enders. Yeah, I thought ZOE 2 was awesome, but I don't see as much potential as you seem to. There's been a film and an anime series, two games on PS2, one on GBA. I think the background story is great, but I don't feel like anything has to be added any more. A next-gen ZOE would be like ZOE 2 with shinier graphics. He should rather do something entirely different.

Besides, Shinji Mikami was the one who made Capcom release RE zero and the remakes exclusively on the GC, so I don't think he's that materialistic.

I'm not sure how I feel about this news. There deffinately is alot of unexplained Raiden backstory which takes place between MGS2 and MGS4. I hope that's what the target will be if that is the case for MGS5. Not a sequel, but a prequel kind of like snake eater, only involving Raiden.

At the same time though, MGS4 was pretty epic, and it was a brilliant ending to the series. It kind of feels that by releasing another MGS it's going to tarnish an already complete plot by trying to stick a bunch of unneccessary brances on it.

ATTENTION:

Metal Gear does not mean Solid Snake.

Metal Gear can mean Solid Snake.

There have been Metal Gears in the past where you don't play as Solid Snake.

There will be more Metal Gears. 4 was not the last. 4 was the end "last mission" of Solid Snake.

There is still potential to include Solid Snake in more games, even as the main character. This is despite what many people would hate/think. He's a character. Simply because a game showed his death doesn't mean there's no more story for him.

There are still tons of things to do as Snake, story wise.

There's an entire games worth of crap that has happened to Raiden in between Sons of Liberty and 4.

This "Letting dead dogs lie" stuff is absurd and, I feel, it shows either a lack of knowledge of the series (go grab your database and read through it) or the feeling that Metal Gear=Solid Snake (which is incorrect as well) and that his death means there lacks anything else to do with the series and that he 'ended' it.

He didn't. Maybe just with Solid Snake.

How unoriginal.

I was willing to accept Metal Gear Solid 2 because MGS 1 for PS1 was an original game and it also made some sense and wasn't completely ridiculous. I was willing to accept MGS 3 because it had new gameplay elements and MGS 2 left me with MGS blue balls, but it was okay.

MGS 4 was just completely and utterly ridiculous. I don't understand how someone says it's "one of the most incredible stories of all time". The story is trash, and doesn't make sense even if you tried. Not to mention, there was no stealth content in a game that is supposed to be the father of modern stealth action.

Metal Gear Solid 4 plays out like some sad and obscure late night cartoon series that nobody watches.

Aslong as its not Raiden or Old snake bring it on! I dont think they will ever top MGS 3 tho... where stealth felt nesccery for a change. It also had a boss that forced you to use stealth to win! you would think a game series based on stealth would have a few more of those.

In fact bring back The End! The plots fucked up anyway im sure you can find someway that he lived on... maybe he lives on because his pinkie got attached to his parrot?

The ones on the PSP were great! Vastly different to the originals (Although Portable Ops was similar) but still great games.
