High Schoolers Protest Call of Duty Dog Killing

She is a high school student. That means some teacher probably gave an assignment to her class to find something disturbing in the media and create a petition for it. I remember so many times while in high school of teachers forcing assignments like that on me. I had one that wanted to be use "Catcher in the Rye" and somehow relate that to violence in the workplace.

I don't even remember if I completed that assignment.

On regards to dog killing... there are old western flicks where horses were shot when their legs were broken. To make it look real they actually did cripple them and shoot them. I know now there is regulations in place that makes sure violence on animals are fake but damn this story makes it sound this teenager feels even fake violence against animals is bad.

Isn't the very fact that the dogs are trained to kill humans considered animal abuse, and even the all might P.E.T.A has to put down dogs that have been abused that mentally damaging?

...okay, she's nowhere even close to being as crazy as PETA, but still. The last thing we need is for this to be taken seriously, and for some form of "Virtual PETA" (*shudder* please God no!!!) to be formed. It was a video game. I've played Mario games for years; I've never heard anyone (other than PETA) protesting about killing virtual turtles. I've played almost every Zelda game, and there is no petition against killing virtual octopi or wolves. She's bent out of shape because she loves her Pomeranian, not because this is a serious issue.

Well its easy enough to test her theory. Take a game such as MGS3 in which you also killed dogs in brutal detail, do some research into the trend of violent attacks on dogs since the release of that game and by comparison the number of games with the slaughter of dogs, and look for any sharp inclines around these releases. Then she has a correlation. However since correlation doesnt imply caustation she's screwed. This is ignorant and asinine, she claims its awful to kill the dogs, yet dismisses the aspect of human genocide taking place. However, if she did the test I described, I doubt she would even get correlation. If your going to attack you beloved family pet because a game showed it to you, you need more than a petition. People who will attack dogs are already prone to psychopathic (or now formally "ASBD") tendencies, and shouldn't be allowed living animals to care for, or violent games. Period.
