Pretty much what it says, what were those games that got huge critical praise that you just thought were a snivelling pile of dog shit. For me it's gotta be Bioshock 2. To quote what I said on another thread "No atmosphere, shiity combat (I'm being serious) no twists, hideously overrated and the story was like a Houdini splicer. Sure it makes a show of itself at first but it won't be long before it dissapears for prolonged periods of time, appearing very briefly to kick you in the nuts before pissing of again only to eventually get fucked through the head"

I didn't "hate" Fallout 3...but I had issues with it. It felt like the game actively punished a player who didn't put points into Lockpicking or Science. And players who wanted to use anything but Small Guns for the first few hours.

On the other hand, I despise Guitar Hero/Rock Band for reasons that have NOTHING to do with the stupid "Play a real insrument" shit. Because if I wanted to play a real guitar, I would. But I don't. I hate them for the sheer grind of practice and the low reward for your efforts.

Halo. I cant understand what is great about it and I love shooters.

The latest Total War, what a snoozefest. I had a blast with Shogun Total war back in the day.

Crysis. Fantastic graphics, but meh gameplay and meh story. One of the most unengaging shooters I've played, only surpassed by Halo in its mehness as far as I can remember (at least when counting AAA productions).

I would have to say Half Life 2. (And episodes)
It's the story of a power-armored non-character fighting generically evil aliens using generic weapons in a grey/brown wasteland/dystopian city while supported by the most annoying sidekick in gaming history.
The vehicles were the worst I have ever encountered, the gunplay is dull, and the only parts where it shines are the puzzle bits.
I don't hate it as a game, I hate it for what it represents in our culture.
I also hate the Metal Gear Solid series and WoWcraft, but those require less of an explanation.
Oh, and you can't forget the Call of Booty series.
I don't like the God of war series, but I understand it's appeal.

Ignoring the fact that I disagree with everything you said about Bioshock 2 apart from it having no twists, not to mention the completely ludicrous idea of saying something can possible be "overrated" when we are discussing opinions.

I hate every popular game ever made because they are all generic, mediocre and I am really edgy.

I did hate Fallout 3 though. My friends hyped the hell out of it but i thought everything about it was terrible.

"The Sims" I didn't hate it exactly, but it did bore the living fuck out of me. I couldn't even be bothered to try the sequels.

I didn't hate MGS4, but it left a bad taste in my mouth. The controls weren't really suited to fast-pased action, but the games kept on forcing you go all actiony. I loved it when you were doing stealth though, that was wonderful.

DMC4 was rating quite highly wasn't it? I don't like it. Backtracking through the entire game is NOT fun.

Everything by Valve except Portal. What a massively overrated company.

Also, BioShock.

I was also underwhelmed by Dragon Age, but I certainly didn't think it was a bad game by any means. In fact, it was far better than average. It just wasn't the incredible experience I was expecting, a la Mass Effect.

I hate

Any MGS- Its a nonsensical plot that I will never understand no matter how hard some of its fans try. And the gameplay was boring to me...

WoW- Same flaw as every MMORPG for me. Horribly boring and I have nerds yelling at me continually to be the tank for them so they can be a badass... Fucking irritating... And they love to yell AGGRO!!! AGGRO!!! AGGRO!!!! Nerds, you make me look cool, and that takes doing...

This guy explained my distaste mostly well. I disagree on the puzzle thing though, it was boring.

And of course I felt the need to explain why I dislike WoW and the MGS series...

STALKER gets pretty high ratings, but nothing really appealed to me except the atmosphere.
It was riddled with bugs, broken gameplay, broken quests, bad/poorly translated dialogue, a nonsense story that didn't live up to the source material of either the book or film, etc.

MGS4, a lot of bad cut scenes, and "meh" game play, yet people insisted on throwing perfect 10s at this game.

Stalker SOC? With the latest patches it's pretty stable..

OT: Counter-Strike Source. Waste of 30 euros. It felt really 'meh, this is it?'

I wouldn't say I hated any of them but I did find GTA4,FarCry 2 and Half-Life 2(in fact the entire Orange Box)to be very overrated and average

Oblivion no doubt for me. I was so excited to be getting a new computer on the very week that Oblivion was being released, ready to enjoy the pure awesomeness of a new and exciting fully open and free to make my own adventure, get lost in the landscape and see various and epic creatures. Only to realize after a couple days of playing it that all their effort into the game apparently went into the 'vast openness' and they forgot about everything else. There is little more than a handful of different monsters, the dungeons are all virtually pointless and samey, enemies were horrifying boring to fight, and I dreaded ever having to converse with any NPC. Even the Oblivion Gates after going in twice I had seen pretty much everything it had to offer.
After try and try again to get into the game I gave up and I feel completely baffled every time I hear someone compliment how deep the game is.
I did get to drop a trophy animal head on a guy though, freakin' awesome. :D

I have quite a few examples, but I'll try and keep the list short by just naming some off the top of my head: Halo, Call of Duty 6, Grand Theft Auto IV, Gears of War, Fallout 3, Borderlands, Final Fantasy XIII (it honestly got a 120/100 from one reviewer), and God of War (I really tried to like it, but it was just so dull).
