Grand Theft Auto 4.
Ever tried playing it for two hours? It's impossible, it's so goddamn boring, and Niko is bad at EVERYTHING!
He fell off a motorbike and over the handlebars because I drove into a fence, which fell down, in about 3 mph. And he never learns that seatbelts are a good thing that wasn't invented to kill you.
That game annoys me.

Halo and Oblivion.

Both have piss-poor controls and awkward characters.

Oh and Mario. To get the experience that the new Mario game has I can just go play Mario 3 and get three friends to periodically fuck up my precise jumps for me.

Super Mario Galaxy's terrible camera ruined any fun I could've gleamed from that game, not being able to see a jump or an enemy or anything and then dying is not fun. God, that game blew.

Hmm, for hated i'd say Halo and Final Fantasy XII... my god i hate them...

For vastly overrated: Bioshock (a poor man's System Shock 2) Uncharted 1+2 (poor man's Tombraider), Soul calibur 4 (poor man's Soul Calibur 3) and COD WAW (just poor).

Honourable mention for a game i enjoyed but was in retrospect vastly overrated (and in no way better than its predecessor): Half-life 2

not to mention the completely ludicrous idea of saying something can possible be "overrated" when we are discussing opinions.
Most people are simply incapable of expressing their opinions in such a way that is not completely polarized. Therefor everything popular is overrated.

OT: uh... *cough* Pretty much anything released in the last few years has disapointed me greatly. Specifically... The misadventures of P. B. Winterbottom got extensive praise, but the gameplay is just a dumbed down version of braid's 3rd(?) world... which was the most boring part of that game...

But give me a game based entirely around "fickle companion" and I'd die of happiness.

Call of Duty. It's so over-rated its just painful... it makes people go to the lengths of not thinking there are any other good games out there and that Multiplayer is the only thing thats important.

It's so fucking RAGE worthy!

Pretty much everything to come out of Japan since Final Fantasy 8 is on my list. I just can't get into the Japanese style of game design, heavy on cutscenes, linear gameplay, and "epic" battles that are mostly drawn-out unskippable animations.

I will never enjoy or be able to maintain interest in the 'Call of Duty' franchise. Each and every entry has been boring, repetitive and for me, utterly broken and ridiculously un-entertaining to play.

And Final Fantasy. I adore the first six entries in the franchise, but from seven onwards I found myself getting progressively separated from the games (with the exception of number nine) and after playing through X and X-2, I was pretty much done.
Not motivated to get or play FFXIII, all feels the same now.

dragon age origins, becouse if you wanted anything good, you HAD to pick the shitty rogue class in order to open any of the crates that were locked, cuz you didn't get a rogue in your party if you picked anyone else until like 2 minutes before you beat the game!

Halo - Overrated
Crysis - I just don't like the gameplay, had the same problem with far cry 1, 2
Portal - I dont get it..
Modern Warfare 2 - Worst call of duty yet
Left 4 Dead - I miss my 44,99 euros :(
Team Fortress 2 - The whole game is a huge joke
Diablo 2 - I love the setting and enjoyed the multiplayer but it's just click.. click.. click.. click..

Hmm. There's exactly 1 good item that you miss out on if you don't have lock picking (it's a bow) and it isn't the best or anything. You can easily beat the game without it. All the other crap in chest is random level appropriate stuff that you'll really just sell.

And not to mention that you get a Rogue npc in your group within the first 4 hours of the game...

You're allowed to dislike a game, but are you sure you're actually talking about Dragon Age here?

"The Sims" I didn't hate it exactly, but it did bore the living fuck out of me. I couldn't even be bothered to try the sequels.
I've sadly have a weird obsession with them. I'll buy the new base game, but no expansion packs. (Not much of a difference really...) I think I might boot it up later though. I want to see if building a relation is easier when instead of being nice to each other they're mean to someone they both hate. For instance, if a couple had a kid and was thinking about getting divorced I could focus their efforts on hating their child to bring them closer. The Sims really needs suicide and murder in it. Now that's an expansion pack I'd buy!
