Sounds like the reverse of what I get from time to time. "You like metal and hip hop? But you're gay!"
so what "should" you be listening to then?

Gee, thinking a man is gay for liking a cartoon show about ponies aimed at prepubescent girls. SHOCKING.
How does what someone prefers to watch on TV have absolutely anythin to do with sexual orientation?

How about having a friend who denine the thought of you watching it at all?

Just to be clear I haven't seen her for ages (well ok it was a year ago but this happen before we meet up) so I keep in touch with her via messager so I can't really express my geninue interest toward the shows by typing.

Anyway this happen when I wanted to see if my friends would be interested in the show so I pretty much blunt it out eventually tothem one by one. One of my friends (the one I'm talking about now) just laugh it off as she thought I was joking. No matter how hard I explain that the
shows is good and becoming popular she still demiss my claim thinking I'm still pulling her leg.

Either way she did had a go trying to watch it but got put off claiming it's too cute which I find very it ironic. (Ok she can watch this other cutie shows called Yoohoo & Friends but not ponies?)

Well these day I don't think she still think I'm joking about it as I found out one of her friend on Facebook is also a brony.

In all seriousness, a lot of my mates thought I was a loon for liking Adventure Time (an enjoyment that's been stunted by the fact that it's not on TV or DVD over here),

OT: That is a rather entertaining, if somewhat strange thing for someone to say to their husband :p

Also is it just me or have there been more mlp threads in the last few days for no real reason.

Because if you like one 'thing' meant for girls, maybe you like other 'things' also meant for them..
I have absolutely no idea how to respond to that without insultin your intelligence so I'm just gonna drop it before I get myself suspended. Good day sir.

Like boys, for example. Or maybe you want to become a princess too.

Well, all I can say is how did you not see something like this happening; if not with your wife then with your family or other friends who are less internet-savvy?

MLP WAS invented for little girls, and is still marketed as a show for them; just a portion of the internet has taken it to being a cult hit. While there's nothing wrong with that you can see where there is so much common misconceptions about people who watch it by the people who don't.

... I'm perfectly straight yet my own parents raised an eyebrow at me when they saw I play female characters as well as male in some games. That annoyed me because they then (in jest) teased me about it, quite a lot actually. But hey, if the game's more entertaining when the playable character is female, so be it.

I'm not a MLP watcher. But I think I'll watch one or two episodes at presence of my family and roommate to see what kind of reaction I'll get out of them. Your situation with your wife got me really curious. Not bi-curious. Just curious.

I have not watched MLP, the little I have seen from youtube has been horrible, characters are obnoxious little...kids essentially, can't stand it. But if anyone thinks it's good, go with it. I can understand those who have not been desensitized to the whole MLP thing to think that someone is gay too.

Most of my friends know I'm a brony. My friends that I knew for very long have the average reaction; meh, he likes a show, leave him be.I'm good friends with a few other 'bronies' though, but I think its our very close similarities cause that.
However,I get called wierd, a freak, gay, idiot, basically the most shallow insults of all time by those facebook obsessed demon whores for women and the same things by the call of duty and violence obsessed jocks.
Then again,I get called the same things for loving metal, having long hair and being a gamer, but i'm quite the introvert, so it isn't very worrying.Hell, I made one the the REALLY bad afformentioned demon whores cry, but lets not get into that.Lets just say it involved her being allowed to say gut wrenchingly awful things, but she breaks into hysterics the minute some one says something much less severe to her.Hell, I didn't even swear and i'm getting too deep into this, arnt I?

Fantastic story! One of the greatest things about the popularity of My Little Pony in my view is that it challenges gender-assigned roles: something that I consider to be a bit of a backwards and often hindering element within our society.

For my rugby club I have a nickname that relates to being gay. Everyone knows I'm not but one time when we were really drunk a guy from the team who obviously didn't get it came up and started saying something to the effect of it's totally cool if I am gay just so long as I don't try to bum him. I promised not to and the matter was dropped.

So how about it? Anyone else have a similar experience? Any time someone close to you were concerned about your interests? (Doesn't have to be MLP)
I had a similar conversation with my father a few weeks ago. He found my MSN status message "Got MLP swag for birthday!" from his hotmail page and got really suspicious. He asked me what it meant and if it was some... hip... slang for drugs or something. I just laughed at him and told him it meant My Little Pony and that I watch it because it's actually a good show.

I quickly added that "Now, you might think I'm gay...". He casually interrupted with "Yeah" before I explained that it was not the case and that he "should stop being so damn judgmental".

It was all in all a fun conversation and we ended on good terms.

Also, captcha asked me to describe the Pampers brand with any word I wanted...
What the flying buck?

Lol, I tried to take it in that direction. I told her I'd be alright with an MFM menage if we could do a FMF one too. She didn't go for it sadly.

Well... yes. I have no idea what's the relation between someones taste in television and his sexual orientation. Someone who watches MLP might be a little bit childish but why would he be bisexual?

Captcha: of course.
See? Captcha agrees with me!

Time for my arbitrary response to MLP threads! :p

Following the logic of the OP's wife, I am a cyborg because I play Deus Ex :D
