I stumbled across footage of the Deus Ex Malkavian mod [http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_WnBeglPl7s] today and I thought to myself that this would be a cool topic.

What are some hilarious game parody works you've come across lately or just wanted to mention?

No, turning game characters into sex objects (also known as Rule 34) does not count as hilarious for purposes of this thread. However, anything else based on a game that is a funny works.

There's this old episode of the Simpsons that revolves around Bart wanting a video game called "Bonestorm", a blatant parody of Mortal Kombat complete with four-armed, Goro style demons and bloody appendages raining from the sky for no apparent reason. Later, when he's contemplating stealing it, he's encouraged by parodies of Mario, Luigi, Donkey Kong and Sonic the Hedgehog. I found it hilarious at the time.

Despite it's disgusting difficulty, I Wanna Be The Guy could be considered both a parody and an homage to the nastiest platforming ever, and I frequently laughed out loud at the ludicrous traps that you did not expect. especially THE MOOOOOON!

Much, much agreed. Concerned is especially great. RvB is really more of a story that is funny in and of itself, though, taking place in the Halo universe without gaining its humor from the game itself.

Egoraptor does some really great animations parodying video games; he's responsible for the Awesome series, which runs at high speed with remarkably spastic characters. Definitely worth watching.

Civil Protection is a totally kickass series about about a couple of less-than-efficient Combine metrocops, that actually contains very little violence. The conversations these two have while patrolling are brilliant, though, and the ridiculous situations said conversations get them into are hilarious. Any fan of Half-Life would love these

I always enjoyed the Deus Ex recut [http://uk.youtube.com/watch?v=ioiOAdFJKYE]. There are others, but that's the one that springs to mind. Other then 8-Bit Theater, of course.

It is a good parody of the Half Life universe. Along the same vein is the film Maintenence Man. Done by the same people (Lit Fuse Films, look them up).

Can't forget The Decline of Video Gaming, parts 1-3!

And I take slight issue with RvB not taking its humor from the game...it makes a decent amount of references; they're just really subtle.

The awesome series, mainly because I work with Egoraptor on theme songs.
A quasi-celebrity in our midst!

Great stuff here. If we can, we should probably include the links, lest we stress peoples' Google-fu.

I think Banjo-Kazooie: Nuts and Bolts should get a mention for parodying itself wonderfully (and having no fourth wall).
