I dont like citizen kane too. romantic melodrama is not my thing. i refer it because people consider it greatest of all time.
True words spoken by a man who's never seen it in the first place.

Both sound neat, but I've simply missed out. Based on what I've heard in terms of quality, both go each way with their own lower quality stuff and their high points... Hitman sounds more interesting though, personally

Hitman games are, roughly speaking, puzzlers.
Deus Ex games also have an "approach puzzle" aspect, but are also exploration games with a living narrative.

Since I play to explore stories and have memorable experiences, Deus Ex is by far the better game for me. There's a dozen memories I have from the original Deus Ex that I can recall right now, but the only things I remember from Hitman: Codename 47 are the constant crashes, frustrating mechanics and a joke reference/easter egg from the mental patients: "a' ge mam?" ("Er det mam?" directly translates to "Is that yum/food?" in the way a toddler would ask their parent, referencing a Danish comedy sketch by GramseSpektrum.) The only reason I remember that is because my best friend kept saying it over and over.

In other words, Hitman is in my eyes, at best a novelty. I'm glad it exists, but I have my preference, even if they're not directly comparable.

Interesting perspective. It would be great to find a happy medium between both, because they are both flawed but also have high points that outdo each other. The best example to me would be combining the Hitman series' immediacy and readiness of gameplay design with Deus Ex's expansive functional depth and atmosphere.

The worst parts of Deus Ex are when heavy handed narrative and scripty action sequences get in the way of simply playing the game, while the worst parts of Hitman are its mostly one-note structure and constant demand for a trial and error approach.

Deus Ex is my preference. I just couldn't really stick with the Hitman series. I played the first one, and it was ok. But it didn't hold my interest. Playing an emotionless killer who simply does it for money just doesn't appeal to me at all. I know they've tried to humanize him in some of the games, but I've seen playthroughs of those games, and they weren't that good. Thin ass plot, terrible acting, lame excuses to have weird maps for 47 to run around and kill people on in crazy ways. Just...*shrugs*...meh.

Deus Ex.

I needed some quest item to continue the main quest. The person that had it said they'd give it to me only if I did some erronous task for them first.

I shrugged, held the B button. My character snapped his neck with a flick of his wrist, I took the item and continued on my way.

You don't quite get that sociopathic glee in Hitman considering... ya know, you're a hitman.
