Well, I don't see a introduce yourself thread like on Desudesbrigade so please tell me if I posted in the wrong place. I'm Nearlover7! I love anime and manga (My favorite is Baccano) I'm 13 years old and I want to be everyone's friend!

Hello there. I don't think this forum has a section for introductions but this is off-topic discussion so the thread should be fine here.

Welcome to the escapist community.

Welcome.
Make sure to read the forum rules [http://www.escapistmagazine.com/forums/codeofconduct], or your stay will certainly be a short one.

Oh, and a lot of people don't realize that you're allowed to swear as much as you fucking like here, provided you're not swearing at some cunting twat you've gotten yourself into a flamewar with.

And if you want to reply to a specific post, remember to press the 'quote' button. This makes that person receive a message saying they've been quoted.

And remember to stay out of the basement. It is a foul place.

Lastly: Seeing as you are a new user, I must ask of you to do the following.
Go to my profile. (You can do this by clicking my username).
When you're at my profile page, you should see a tab called 'badges'.
Click that tab and scroll almost all the way to the bottom.
You should see a badge called "The red button".
Click it.

The spinning button has been disabled due to too many complaints... :(

And it's not mean... It's my initiation ritual. Every new user gets it.

Besides. I'm not sure I can get myself to be nice to someone who says they love Near. Near is nothing but a pathetic copy of L, period.

I just clicked on it and it worked for me. Weird.

I think we should make that an official initiation ritual.

Oh and welcome to the Escapist OP!

Indeed we should.
And what? It worked for you? Strange.
I tried clicking it a while back, and I had no such luck.

We have a basement...nobody told me about this. D:

Also we need an official thread for introductions, but I don't mind this either.

I seem to remember you [link=http://www.escapistmagazine.com/forums/jump/18.332276.13475391] Nothing to see here telling me to do the same thing when I was new.

[sup]Of course, I didn't fall for that trick![/sup]
What ever do you mean?

I have done no such thing...

Welcome Newbie!, remember that on this site "if in doubt, Batman"
Here's an example;

"What do you think of Skyrim?"
"BATMAN!"

I should warn myself for low content now.

My my, time sure does fly doesn't it?
[sup]Ironic really, that the thread I linked was about someone saying their goodbyes, and here we have someone saying hello.
We've come full circle! (or is it half-circle?)[/sup]

Anyway, I think it might be a good idea to have an "introduce yourself" sticky'd thread.
Actually, back in the day, in the time before the Code of conduct, we had THE FORUM RULES.
The difference between the Code of conduct and The forum rules of old is that THE FORUM RULES. had very clear guidelines as to what was allowed in the forums and not.
Why am I telling you this?
You see, back when we were informed that things such as vs. threads were forbidden, welcoming threads were also banned.

You were not allowed to make a thread to introduce yourself, and I believe I remember they had some sound reasoning for not allowing a sticky thread either.
In those days, we welcomed new users when they made their first post no matter what thread they made it in, much like I did when you came around.

Of course, many of these rules of old still linger in the hearts of veteran users, which is why there is such a hatred for vs. threads.

Personally, I really enjoy introduction threads though. Mostly because I can direct the rookies to the button.
And besides, it's important that the fresh meat gets to know about the basement before it's too late.

Tell me about it. So many awkward conversations could've been avoided if honesty had been employed. >_>

We changed from Forum Rules to Code of Conduct because Code of Conduct applies to the whole site (user groups, PM's as well) while "Forum Rules" is purely for the Forums, its the wording really, not much has changed to be honest.

Yeah historically welcome threads weren't allowed, but its not fair on a new and excited user to tell them off for trying to enjoy the site. It creates an air of hostility, its a bit like going into a Bar and trying to say "Hi" to someone and getting punched in the face.

We used to have a huge Welcome thread made by Wilson, but its hiding and newbies wouldn't know to look for it until they were informed of it after making a "I'm new here" thread, which telling them about it is counter intuative to discussion... which The Escapist are big fans of.

And don't worry about the basement, true evil lurks in the closet, by the corduroy trousers

edit: I fucked up the quoting! I HAVE FAILED YOU PEOPLE!
