I would say the code of conduct is a lot more vague than the forum rules though.
The forum rules mentioned a lot of specific guidelines for how to behave in the forum. I feel it made things feel more classy than "don't be a jerk" does.

Pfft, there's nothing scary in the basement. The mods just don't want people to find what's inside it, so they invented a scary idea to stop people from going down there. Those people tell the new users and the new users tell the next bunch of new users and so on, with noone actually going into the basement to find out for themselves. It's a never-ending cycle, and the mods like it that way.

I think there was an official reason for not stickying it, but I can't remember it if that was the case. Possibly for a similar reason to why the staff never stuck the technical bugs/ complaints thread.

And ThyNameIsMud re-enabled the spinning button badge with the new site layout.

Tell me about it. So many awkward conversations could've been avoided if honesty had been employed. >_>

I'm going to tell you the same thing I told Nasrin when she pointed out my grammatical mistakes, while having good grammar is important I just cannot keep the correct information and keep making the same grammatical mistakes, I always mix up there and their and your and you're, my brain just dumps the info because I guess it doesn't want it taking up to much memory, I have the exact same problem with the difference between Seals and Sea Lions and Crocodiles and Alligators. I know they are different but I can never remember how even though I've been told several times.

Think of this situation, I'm swimming in the sea and some dark feral creatures attack me I cry for your help mParadox
"HELP I'M BEING MAULED BY SEALS" and you reply
"those aren't Seals, they are Sea Lions, you can tell the difference by the ears"

then I die

The moral of the story?, instead of correcting my grammar you should be saving my life.

Well, essentially there's nothing scary about it. It's the idea which is scary, you see. Gives a lot of room for imagination. Seeing as I've been there, oddest of circumstances really, I was not given the horror my brain promised. I blame your PR department. ):

Hello My name is staika and I welcome you to the escapist. Now before you enjoy the escapist forums to their fullest we should go over some things so you don't either get banned or get a bad reputation with people

1: Stay away from the people with blue names, they may look nice but they are actually fire breathing moderators who will crush you without a second thought.

2: Stay out of the basement, You may be wondering what the basement is but if I told you I'd have to kill you O.O

3: Don't be mean, if you are that angers the mountain god [user]Nasrin[/user] and she may descend from her mountain top dwelling to destroy everyone in her path. Please don't let that happen again.....

4: Try to follow the rules, if you break a rule the fire breathing mods will come after you and that is never a fun experience >.>

5: Advertising is for the profile only, So please don't make a thread about a show you made or something that can be linked in your profile. There are a few people who get warnings out of that so don't let that happen to you!
