What hobbies do you have outside of gaming? In addition, is there a field that you would be above average in terms of knowledge in, such as history is medical science?

Reading. I read 3-4 novels a week. I also love comics of all kinds.

Those two things are also what I want to know tons and tons about.

Engineering of just about any kind as long as I got some time and money for it.
Hell if I had the money I would be putting people on the moon for sure, well I would certainly be shooting them towards the moon and we would work out some landing details later, as long as they sign death wavers it should be fine.

I highly doubt I can even call myself average in any of these fields as they are so very high end, but surely am less dumb on the subjects then people who never heard of them... probably.

I play bass guitar, and I am an avid CD music collector with more than 500 CDs and counting (mostly hard rock and metal). I also read a lot, and have a considerable fantasy and sci fi collection.
Why CDs you may ask... well I don't really like buying musing through digital platforms, even though some CDs took me years to find.

Regarding knowing above average, there are two fields I excel:
Roman and Greek history, minor knowledge of dark ages and ancient summerian history
Paleontology (I actually started studying this at the university but I had to switch)

Music and film. I listen to new albums fairly regularly, and whilst not as often as before, I do like to frequently sit down and watch old movies(currently trying to get through Kurosawa's library).

I could also say literature, but my course has kind of sapped the fun out of reading.

Pornography, forum lurking and YouTube videos. I like reading about history and weapons as well, from chainmail to mortars, architecture to art.

Well I'm a private pilot so I love flying around and taking people flying. I own a motorcycle and frequently ride it(live by the dragon, devils triangle and blue ridge parkway) I recently bought a nice mirrorless camera and am starting to experiment with developing those skills. I used to snowboard a lot(yearly trips to utah) then I broke my wrist and hung that hobby up. Might get into skiing though. I waterski/tube in the summer. Looking to get my open water cert. Hobbies I've had in the past paintball, dirtbike stuff, shooting, piano. So who knows what my next hobby will be.

I like reading. Popular science, history, 'trash' science fiction, stuff like that. I like cooking, and I'm getting to be not too bad at it. Watching movies, from Marvel to Terminator to less popular, 'weirder' things like Das Boot and Patton. I like firearms as well (I wish I had more money for it, and a decent place to shoot). I also like looking at engineering marvels - My favorite kind of museums are the technical ones, like space/aeronautical, and places where they keep feats of engineering, like train museums.

I got to visit an Iowa class Battleship this year, which was fantastic. The actual Iowa, in fact, in California. I highly recommend it if you're in the area, even if you're not a war history buff. The scale of it is just mind blowing.

Oh, you just like regular things, like considering the human condition and discovering the secrets of the universe.

How lame you are.

Mainly reading - both books and comics of any description provided I find the subject interesting.

Other than that, I'm something of a beer geek, and I homebrew.

In terms of hobbies, I play airsoft and ultimate frisbee, and I've been getting back into art the past few months. I may also try my hand at some writing since I've got story ideas and shit. Me and friends have started to dabble in D&D on the weekends.

I'm currently in my third year of studying Aerospace systems engineering.

I have too many hobbies honestly. I draw every single day and am a semi professional artist. I graduated from college with honors in fine arts and specialize in digital painting. I am self taught in 2D animation and have been doing that since I was a kid. I play bass guitar on my free time and am trying to get better at that. I am part of a regular D&D group and have been playing magic the gathering for many years now. I have been have almost 20 years worth of training in judo (that's longer than I realized :S). I go paintballing in the summer. Obviously I play video games since I am here. I actually spend a surprising amount of time listening to lectures and videos on gender studies and occasionally race issues mostly because I find the subject interesting.

I do it at my job and in my free time (which is also for work but freelance this time). Despite all the time I spend on it, I still don't think I'm particularly good at it, nor do I think I know anymore about it than anyone else.

When I can't stand to stare at an image any longer, I'm usually on these forums.

My boyfriend, friends and family get weekends and sometimes the evenings, they don't count as hobbies do they? I do go to the comic book store and play board games with my BF on Thursday nights.

Sometimes, but not as often as I would like, I read or go hiking or canoeing, would like to learn another language, pick martial arts back up.

Hockey (watching, not playing), programming, board games, ultimate Frisbee

I would also like getting a few more outdoor hobbies to help my ankle. It's weak, but remaining active helps a lot.

I've been studying philosophy for the past 13 years now. Used to moderate on www.philosophyforums.com but I left at some point. I'm also rather knowledgable about psychology, world history, rhetorics, biology and physics. As for hobbies next to gaming? Well. I do sleight of hand with cards, smoke weed, play board games, build computers, drawing/inking, singing, lifting weights, baking cake, folding napkins (Yeah really), gardening, martial arts...
