Well, I enjoy reading, both fiction and history. I teach American History classes at the college level and really love it. I tend to specialize in early U.S. history but am a generalist (meaning I consider all branches of historical studies important and don't delve solely into social history, military history, political history, etc.; they're all interconnected)

I love music and have a fairly eclectic taste in it. There are very few genres I haven't enjoyed listening to, but my first love is classical (thank you Bugs Bunny for introducing me to it at a very early age).

I like cooking. OK, OK I really like eating and the cooking part is just a means to an end. :D

Actually, I live a fairly boring life and have been accused by my friends of soaking up all the banality from the locality and leaving none for them. With family drama abounding, they want some of my boring.

Model making (Gundam) but in saying so it has been a couple of years since I had last made one.

Ok sure I did bought a recent model (Transient Gundam) a few months ago but I have yet to build it (I just need a day when my parent are away so I don't get distracted).

Football mostly - season ticket for local club Dundee United, in addition to watching other games when I can. Champions League being on BT Sport this season has been wonderful for me :D

I do try to catch Ice Hockey when I can though, and watch the Superbowl every year.

Then there's also the "sports entertainment" that is WWE that I've started getting back into. Only live watch the PPVs each month at the moment though.

I'm a Network Engineer, so me liking and fiddling with computers in my own time is no surprise.

I read a lot, helps that my dad is a book collector. Rock climbing is my random hobby.

I spend a lot of time trawling the Internet, making sure all the hippies, liberals and SJW's are kept in line. It's a really rewarding hobby, and you always have someone to try and fix.

I knit, so far only scarves and hats, but I'd love to make other stuff. Generally as long as I can be creative in some way I'm good. Also love to read.

Music, Magic: the Gathering, Heroclix and stand-up comedy. Did some small gigs; nothing noteworthy as of yet. Maybe someday...

I like to play guitar and bass, taking long walks (people tend to joke that in my free time I am rarely indoors), reading, watching films, watching ice hockey and studying Chemistry (I am an immunochemist by trade). I used to hike and rock climb when I was at university but sadly I don't really have time for them any more with the demands of my job.

My focus in Uni is computer graphics, and I'm planning on doing a masters in that area, so it'd certainly be fair to say I have an interest in it. By an extension I also have a lot of interest in math, since it's basically the bread and butter of computer graphics. Another university inspired interest would be philosophy as I keep taking it as an elective. Probably wouldn't be too far from having a minor in it, now that I think of it.

Outside of that on the geeky side, I like reading, tabletop games and MtG. On the non-geeky side I'm big into sport climbing. Used to be a lot more into it in High School, back when I had free time and money, but I'm back to going about 3-5 times a week in a gym. Been ages since I've been outdoors though

I love reading Non Fiction and Novels when I'm not gaming. I also thoroughly enjoy playing the trumpet.

Biggest non-gaming hobby would have to be photography though when I think of it.

I have a motorcycle I ride through the winter, for fun. I'd say that counts as it being a hobby. I LARP, and I love to camp in a tent. Which go hand in hand over here. I love astronomy and have my own telescope. And I like cooking. Though I usually keep it very simple because fancy cooking for just yourself isn't fun. I also have a drum kit but I'd count it as a minor hobby, as I don't practice that often.

I have above average knowledge on Astronomy and about a decent variety of animals. And if I compare myself to people I know, I have above average knoweldge of computers as well. Just not programming. I'm more the kind of person that knows a little bit about a wide variety of subjects though.

Very cool thread! Nice to see the diversity of interests outside the core that brought us all here.

As for me, I'm a musician, writer and avid martial artist. I've studied muay thai, parkour and recently started kung fu.

But I'm also trying to parlay the other two hobbies into a source of income so I can quit my day job as an IT Consultant. I love to write short stories and recently sold one to Stupifying Stories magazine.

Earlier this year, I started a side gig as an online session guitarist (with some vocals and bass thrown in).

Here's the link to the site, in case anyone's interested: http://www.guvobamusic.com

And here's the demo album I released on iTunes as sort of an audio resemue: http://itunes.apple.com/album/id1029634409?ls=1&app=itunes

For the purpose of this thread I'll go past all kinds of gaming that I love, which also includes board- and roleplaying games.

My main thing is devouring fiction. I read a lot, my e-reader sees a ton of use, but in the end I'm mostly a cinephile. I love not just to watch films and series, but also to pick them apart and think critically about them. It makes me appreciate them more.

Then there's also:
- Keeping up with 'the world', mostly by following the news and reading The Atlantic-type articles and the like. And then think critically about all that too, like I do with cinema. And yes, that includes social justice.
- Discuss the material mentioned above, preferably in a pub setting, though my friends are oblivious to it all so that rarely happens.
- Archery, though now that I've broken my arm (two weeks of being in a cast to go) I'm out of this year's club league. By the time I'm back on my old level I'm looking at mid-spring.
- Some weightlifting, though the same goes for that as for archery. I'd like to go my weightlifting back to the gym again for better progress, once I'm able again.
- Exploring and discovering new music. I'd like to go to concerts more often but, well, money is an issue
- I'm not sure if it counts as a real hobby, but I like to practice juggling every now and then.
- It's a new thing and hopefully it'll become a hobby; exploring cultural activities. I'll be seeing an opera in a few weeks and I'd like to go see a play more often, go to art exhibitions and maybe even try out poetry recitings.

So in the end you could call me one of those 'intellectual types' or some shit like that. No surprise as I'm a philosophy student by trade. I wouldn't call me the dusty kind though, for that I'm too bloody enthusiastic and passionate about what I love.

What I'd like to add to that in the future is cooking, maybe a city trips, playing an instrument and taking up drawing again. I was making some nice progress with the latter some years back. But, well, life happened.

Well lets see here

Anime- Self explanatory

Scale model building- Airplanes, ships, and tanks although lately I've been building mainly gunpla (gundam model kits) so it kind of ties into my anime hobby. Currently working on the 1/144 scale Gundam Barbatos.

Warfare history- Mainly 20th century warfare

Aviation- Mainly just read books about civil and military aviation. Once tried to get a pilots license, but I had to drop it due to money and other reasons.

My friend, who's the one in that picture, would be very offended if he saw that. He's a Steiner man.

I hope he never finds it.
