Why would you be embarrassed doing anything you enjoy? I may not shout about my various hobbies but I cannot think of anything I enjoy that embarrasses me.
the point is to talk about things that you SHOULD be embarrassed about but aren't.(not that it should stop you from talking about things you really are embarrassed about)

Yeah, half of the thread title was hidden on my user group sidebar. All I saw was "Hobbies you should be embaressed". Edited my post.

Anime. For some reason, people who don't know anime really hate it. Or they think it's really weird, and thus makes me really weird.
This is made even worse by the fact that I'm the only nerd in my extended family. I'm also the only one who doesn't like sports. So, when they walk into my room and see two computer monitors, a giant (to their eyes) computer case, my D&D stuff, a poster of Princess Mononoke, and a Portal 2 poster, they think I'm this guy [http://chzmemebase.files.wordpress.com/2011/06/memes-nerd-love.jpg].

I find it ironic that my cousin is the complete opposite of me: he's the stereotypical jock with shirts that have giant armholes, an exercise addiction, and less brain cells than the average 4Chan user.

Simulation gaming is one of them. Frankly, flight simulator gamers don't have the best reputation even within the world of gaming, let alone in the outside world. Add military simulators and racing simulators to the mix, and you get somebody who should have to watch every damn thing he says.
Somewhat unrelated to the topic at hand, but you might want to give ArmA, Dwarf Fortress and Europa Universalis 3 a try. All very intricate simulators (military FPS, bearded drunken chaos/death trap creation and European [mostly] grand strategy, respectively), and in the case of DF/EU3, very fun. ArmA might be too, but I never played it.

Just a suggestion, anyway. I can direct you to a copy of DF and everything to get you started, if you like.

Sorry if you've already played those, just thought I would suggest that. They're not racing or flight - I don't play either of those genres - but they are in-depth sim games, so I thought you might like them.

My addiction to football. Ive missed countless family's and friend's events because the Steelers were playing. I also have a pretty bad habit of wasting my video game time by playing through hundreds of Franchise seasons in Madden 10. Its probably the main reason I haven't completed Batman Arkham Asylum yet. But, it makes me happy so Im glad for that.

D&D. Tell it to a normal person and they will just straight up leave the room. Tell it to me and I'll pull out a D20 and roll a high five check. Nat 20? Oh yeah.

Seriously, me and a friend were sitting in the car as another was "hiding in plain site" from this guy who usually begs us for food. See, his percentile roll was SO LOW this man was directly where he needed to go. How it ended: Friend (20 Hide) Enemy (1 Spot) we all laughed as we drove away with the stuff he went to get. Both at the situation and how we literally had broken it down into rolls and how nerdy we truly were.

Three things:

-My Little Pony (I have problems admitting to my closest friends and family except for my sister).
-Fanfiction (I've been bored enough to start a Shadowrun -as in tabletop RPG- series based on my character, but is that really "fanfiction?")
-Anime (Only my closest friends know that I watch anime, but only occasionally).

Nobody should be embarrassed about their hobbies, which is why I'm not embarrassed by anything I do. I don't understand why anybody would be anyway.

That would be adventurer mode. Practically a bonus, not really the main game.

These [http://df.magmawiki.com/index.php/Adventurer_mode] links [http://df.magmawiki.com/index.php/DF2010:Adventure_mode_quick_start] are helpful for adventurer mode.

For fortress mode and the game as a whole, look here [http://df.magmawiki.com/index.php/Main_Page], especially at the tutorials.

MLP
Anime (Most people I know accept it locally, but there are so many people who think it's all bad stereotypical shonen crap.)

My sizable collection of pornographic visual novels.

On a related note, my various kinks and fetishes. I don't exactly advertise those, but I'm not embarrassed. It's all a part of who I am, and I like who I am.

Let's Plays, lots of them. Big hobby of mine

People just don't understand the reason for liking watching someone play a game and commentate over it. Its like playing a a game with a friend. Ah well.
