This is pretty much about what the title says it's about. I'm already mostly done with one of the 5 sweaters I have to make for the kids in the family, and I'm thinking of knitting a Sac Boy plushie for my husband's brother. I think I might make a sweater for my husband also, but then there's the Boyfriend's Curse to contend with. I think it should be mitigated by over a decade of marriage, but I'm slightly superstitious about it anyway. So, fellow Escapists, have you already gotten started on gift buying/making for your respective winter holiday? It's late, and the knit/purl repeat is getting to me, so forgive me if this is an annual/ oft repeated thread.

Boyfriend curse? Should this be something to worry about?

I've been collecting presents all year. My favourite has to be the notebook for my dad. Its a plain old normal notebook, only on the cover it says "1970's Laptop". Classic.

I wish I had already started... I don't have the money to save for anything right now because of my lack of employment(haven't even managed to get an interview for several months).

Usually I would have started buying things or at least getting things ready to go by now. Doesn't help that my little bro has a birthday in November, my dad in December, and I'm going to end up paying for at least part of the holiday dinners.

It's the thought that counts.

I always buy batteries for people. AA, AAA, every type of battery there is. People always need batteries for things.

It's a notorious curse among knitters. As soon as you knit a sweater for your boyfriend, the relationship sours and your two break up.

Nice, I like the 1970's Laptop, very nice. That's something my dad would like.

I like to start with practical gifts. It might seem stingy, but I get alot of satisfaction knowing that what I got them didn't end up in a closet somewhere.

Crafting your own cards can be wonderful and inexpensive. Check out the scrap booking section of your local craft store for ideas and materials.

already have tons of stuff at my disposal in that regard, always been a rather creative person, also anything I don't have is usually stuff like glue... and that's EVERYWHERE :D.

It's not only wonderful and inexpensive, but more personal, and fun!

also Captcha was torylop condition. kinda funny

I haven't started accumulating gifts yet, and I really should.
