ok so let me explain. ive noticed that a lot of movies these day that are small and have low/non-exsistant funding. now i normally only see these on the sifi channel and watch them for a good belly laugh when nothing else is on.

some people prefer these movies to big hollywood blockbusters.

so basically whos side are you on? or can you appreciate both?

Both have their place, certainly. I don't go the cinema, nowadays, so I'm very rarely exposed to big-budget Hollywood, and tend to look up films online, filtering my choices through how interesting the plot/idea sounds and the director/writer/actors' previous form.

I still enjoy switching my brain off for two hours and watching The Rock blow stuff up, from time to time though.

The Scifi channel is not the same as the Indie movie scene.

The Indie movie scene still revolves around theatrical releases and big-name actors (most succesful actors are still involved in the indie scene). They simply have smaller budgets than standard Hollywood fare, and are usually less cliched and traditional in their storytelling. There's a reason indie movies often get a lot of buzz and critical acclaim: quite often they're far more forward thinking and innovative than the dreck that Hollywood keeps churning out.

Scifi, on the other hand, specialises in making low budget made-for-tv movies that revolve around bad acting, nonsensical plots and average at best special effects. Scifi represents indie moviemaking in the same way that Rebecca Black represents indie music.
yeah i get ya. guess i worded it wrong :/

Well, I can't really choose sides, but I think I'll go with independent only because it's the lesser of two evils. But that's not to say that independent films don't have flaws:

Its not a case of good v bad. Hollywood is like going to eat at Mcdonalds, its going to be cheap and designed not to offend anyones tastebuds. Indie movies are going to to say a Sudanese restaurant, you might like it or might hate it and there is no way of knowing until you have tried it. The bill will be more expensive than Mcdonalds and you might think you have wasted your money.

Btw if you do go to Sudanese restaurant always order the coffee, its the best in the world. Avoid the the goat tough
