I personally think it's awesome. Anything in the grounds of benevolent human engineering I find fascinating but, yes, I think it can get a bit on the creepy side.

At least now we know how the women on Y: The Last Man must have done the deed other than cloning... ...yeah, I'm shutting up now...

Well, looks like this won't be needed anymore. *picks up meat cleaver* *cleaves*
I think that this time and money could go to something more useful like curin AIDS or something.

Great, increase our ability to propagate when we're already spreading too far and too fast as it is.

Am I the only one thinking there is better things we can do with our research time and money?
= What I was going to say.
And I like being relevant to reproduction, thank you very much.
All these posts= /thread.

I can see the religious groups throwing a tantrum any day now..........although I must say this shit isn't going to go down well
that thought actually never crossed my mind, but yeah they won't be happy
No, the religious groups won't care.
ONE of them will.
Just one.
Possibly two.

you know.. and not to get grose, but there are certain...em.. toys we females can get that look, and have the same function ability as a male..( and by that I mean man goo) in which they sell lub like things that " replicate" said male genetic material...

one could replace said synthetic, with this stuff and....

well that would make males obsolete to some women too

no but seriously though, it's sorta....scary and fascinating in all the same ways
Yep and once they can make artificial sperm, to quote Fear Factory "man is obsolete". I know a few women who would say it is far less hassle than having a real man.

Has anyone read 'Y - The last man'? It's a kind of fascinating take on what the world would be like if every organism that carried the XY chromosone was wiped off the face of the earth.

hey hey lets stop the whole "make men useless research" cause if that works out I know a few crazy ladies that might just get rid of all of us
We will be the foot soldiers in future wars, we will never be obsolete!

Ohhhh.. that looks like fun. Next we'll have Ectogenesis and Brave New World will come to fruition. Right after Dollhouse.

This could help a lot of childless couples. I'm all for it.
Overpopulation is only a problem in the poor regions.
We Westerners need more children to work and pay taxes for the ageing population.
Seriously, we really need more young people because otherwise our whole system'll collapse in the next 50-100 years.
or maybe 5-10 years the way its looking

on topic: i think this is great for men that can't father children

I'm glad I'm not the only one that thought occurred to. Though reproductive aid was actually a distant second... >_>

Is Poland the only country that has a movie about 99.999999% of the population female-only, with just 2 men left, unfrozen after 60 years?

Still, I doubt this artificial sperm thing is going to work. Every mass-produced sperm would be IDENTICAL, and it would mean that every second kid would look very, VERY alike.

Oh well, don't forget that babies in laboratory tubes have long ago made women obsolete.

People need to stop being so afraid of progress. This stuff will open up whole new fields of research, even if the technology by itself is never used.

I just saw this on the news. Anyway I don't think it makes men useless cos you need to have an embryo to create the sperm, so don't worry men, we're still useful!

Oh, oh, oh... young, innocent, unjaded Escapists... you guys and gals make me chuckle so.

You honestly think that this will 'replace' men? (rolls eyes)

The world is capitalist now... and that means that you must consider profit motive first when you consider any substantial technological advancement!

Will this allow women to reproduce without men? While theoretically it could, the answer is: FUCK NO! It is much more likely that this technology will allow old, infirm, and incapable men to reproduce!

I predict an upswing in the number of surrogate mothers... But otherwise, business as usual.
