Good morning fellow Escapists! Four days ago I was watching my little brothers when a thunderstorm rolled in. Thinking it was just a normal thunderstorm we just kept on watching Burn Notice until all of a sudden all hell broke loose. In literally 2 seconds the wind picked up to 70mph, started hailing with the hail being the size of golf balls, and the trees werent blowing one way, they were swirling around! After 5 minutes of what seemed to be the Apocalypse, the storm ended and the sun shined again. My brothers and I walked outside to survey the damage. Giant pine trees were ripped in half, some 100 year old trees were completely uprooted, one tree fell on a house and destroyed it (no one was hurt thank god) and the streets were completely flooded. We were hit by a micro burst, which in layman terms is basically a giant wind rain and hail bomb going off in a four mile radios. So I'm wondering fellow Escapists, what are your worst storm/natural disaster moments that you have been through??

There was this one time, when I was skydiving, me and my buddies were parachuting down over a tropical island. It was night time and we were all talking to each other via microphone setups when all of a sudden it was as if we were hit by a solid force. My companions started yelling and confusion reigned, my chute failed and I plummeted into the ocean. Luckily I survived thanks to the protective gear I was wearing. Once I had recovered, I set out to find Aztec.

We dont get them so i've never experianced that.

But we have had several Floods that happen fast and dont go away quickly, despite the damage it causes its actually pretty fun, My dad went Kayaking through the Town with me on the back of it watching people struggle through Knee-Waist deep water.

Haven't had any recently though, we expect more come Winter but the Council wont pay to take precautions, they know these floods happen and when they do but the council sucks.

Also when i was in HongKong i had to live with Typhoons and Hurricanes, i once tried to get to my friends appartment right next to ours and was almost blown off my feet, had to kinda reach out for her hand from the doorway and pull myself in from my doorway.

Another time it caused a blackout so we had to light the house with candles, which was actually pretty nice

Kinda stupid thing to do actually.

I survived the January Black Saturday Bushfires in 2009.

We got lucky that the fire that hit our town burnt every side except the one we live on. We got even luckier that the wind diddnt blow into us like it was predicted too.

A tornado was touching down above my house.

Luckily it touched down a few miles away but it did damaged some houses and trees in my neighborhood. It was quite an amazing storm to witness.

A few of the blizzards we've had. -40C is pretty cold, especially when your school bus doesn't come for over an hour. >_>

Tornado that threw a tree across the yard. Sounds like a train going around your house at break neck speeds.

The worst I've had is when a tornado destroyed some houses across from mine before I went to college. It sucked for my neighbors, but my house was fine.

I was about 13 - 14 accompanying an aunt & uncle on the journey to move a motor cruiser around the south coast.

We had to make an emergency stop at a small town (The name escapes me) after just passing through the Needles when a freak storm blew in. Lightning streaked across the sky and the water was rushing onto the deck through the stern-side door. Luckily the cabin door was too high for it to come in though. Still as part of the safety procedure we had to get the lifejackets on and retrieve the box of flares.

Thankfully I didn't succumb to sea-sickness, but the toilet had gained a queue of the unlucky ones. We managed to get in past the harbour wall, but unfortunately the boat sustained some hull damage on the way in when a huge wave swept it into the side.

England is blessed with a scarcity of tornadoes and hurricanes ... so far ...

... but you know how you can count from the flash to the bang to see how far away lightning was?

*flash*zero ... one ... two ... thre*bang* <===== 1200m, aka three quarters of a mile.

*flash*zero ... one ... two ... three ... four ... five ... six ... seven ..*bang* <===== 3000m, most of two miles.

*flash*ze*BANG* <===== normal, for some of us.
