Megaupload provides a legitimate service to users uploading their own files, and regardless of the piracy there, their freedom of speech has been infringed upon. I'm of the opinion that this UMG will turn out to be behind this, which stinks of anti-competitiveness.

DDos can be considered a form of organised online protest, especially in cases like this.

Let me just say this. I love to watch the world burn as much as the next man. The thing that pisses me off right now is that a few of those arrested are New Zealand citizens. If the American government tries to extradite New Zealand citizens for a crime committed on NZ soil, to be punished under US law, I will be pissed. Imagine if we tried to do the same thing to an American. They wouldn't have a bar of it.
One day those dickheads in Washington are going to take it a bridge too far. I sincerely look forward to that day and I just hope that the innocent American people don't have to suffer for their ineptitude.

Personally, I don't have a problem with this, at least not under the circumstances. You can't keep pissing off the collective internet without repercussion.
Maybe they're going overboard, but even with the blackout so few people still seem to care; if nothing else this stands the chance of gaining notice.
Time will tell whether than ends up being positive or not.

I really really hope so too. I kind of half expect something drastic to come of all this. I hope my fellow citizens don't get dragged into it too, and end up having to pay for what our leaders are doing.

On topic though, I have always found Anon's attacks quite intriguing. They are like a car crash happening right before your eyes - you can't do anything to stop the two obstacles colliding but neither can you look away! It's that interesting.

However I question the sites they have taken down. None of the sites mentioned make any money from their being up and running. It might make more of a statement to take down sites that make money as that will make them noticed.
