Me! I want to protect myself when the s*ht storm really starts.

And Hot Pockets. Lots of them.

OT: I do remember a team that took down Dodd and his company. Anon being a decentralized team, it was probably their lower tier team that hit the websites. Disregarding my earlier post here, it the Dodd-team came in, might there a chance...?

I am reminded of a saying by Geng
his Khan: "I am the scourge of god. Had you not been such great sinners, God would not have brought my wrath upon your heads." Except in this case, the great sin is taking down Megaupload and pissing off anonymous...

Anonymous is mad the government shut down a site that pretty much does NOTHING ELSE but stream copyrighted material? I will continue saying what I have always said: They are teenagers. Megaupload was lucky it lasted so long, and NOBODY should be surprised it's been shut down.

And of course, Anonymous "shuts down" a government website... for what? A day? *gasp* TWO DAYS?! Who cares? Even for the Dept. of Justice this is an annoyance at the very worst.
"Teenagers" ... who were instrumental in stopping SOPA and PIPA and, if they are successful, doing something about ACTA.

"Teenagers" who remain involved in the Occupy movement.

"Teenagers" who are trying to organize protests against NDAA.

Instrumental in stopping SOPA? NOBODY LIKED SOPA! Anonymous did nothing that EVERY OTHER person on the internet was already doing. They probably accomplished even less, since the government sees them as criminals/punks. Channel Awesome actually went to Washington to speak with congressmen! THAT is something.

Yes, the occupy movement, which has utterly failed to accomplish its goals because many see their message as muddled and/or selfish. Surely the support of a group of "hacktivists" is what they need to raise awareness. Most people at Occupy Wall Street who actually care RESENT Anonymous for being there because their very presence undermines the movement's message.

And yea, "trying." Brag about that when they actually succeed in getting support outside of their own brainless followers.

Probably already been linked, but I'm already wasting time that could be spent on Reddit, so:

Who really cares? What does it achieve? WOOOAGOAOGA)AAE *Scary ghost noises!* I DDoS'd you! Take that, sucker!

In a couple of hours their sites are up again, and this doesn't mean shit. Ignore it, because it's meaningless.

To their credit though, I heard that Anon was already planning a serious hacking spree - I haven't heard anything else about it, but that's actually something you might want to pay attention to.

PS: Stop acting like this wasn't justified; whatever you might argue, Megaupload's primary purpose was piracy, and no, the government is not taking away your sacred right to pirate, because you don't fucking have one.

Just... go, hide, preserve our knowledge and wisdom, teach future generation.
Teach them well... So they wouldn't repeat our mistakes.

Now go, i'll stay. Somebody must sacrifice for the majority.

No! No-one gets left behind, my friend! [grabs your wrist and runs in the opposite direction of the incoming monsters, while Hans Zimmer makes it awesome with his music [http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=W7-Ju0DYLj0]]

OT: Allow me to join the bunker with you guys. I'll bring cake. Lots and lots of cake. And then we'll watch all this occur from a safe distance. Fun!

I guess I can't argue with you, since you've got it all figured out :p

You're awfully condescending towards people who have suffered in subfreezing temperatures for hours on end and in some cases been illegally arrested while fighting for a cause that you're afraid to stand up for. And "selfish?" Support that. Defend that statement.

"Nobody liked SOPA!" The overwhelming majority of congress supported SOPA until the pressure was applied.

As for your "I'll be impressed when they actually accomplish something..." attitude, you'd better be impressed when someone actually manages to beat the mightiest, most tyrannical superpower the world has ever seen. But, y'know, no big whoop.

How very political of you. Attempt to make me look like the fool by sarcastically saying I've got it "all figured out." And I'm the condescending one here?

I don't even get how I was condescending towards the Occupy folks. I didn't say anything bad about them or their goals aside from the fact that they have yet to accomplish any of them. I said a lot of people have negative or confused views on them, and that Anonymous isn't helping that situation in any way whatsoever.

Saying "nobody" in this case was a pretty obvious figure of speech. The fact of the matter is, and this was my point in my first post which you so tactfully overlooked, is that many major internet companies raised people's awareness through adds and/or the blackout, which Anonymous had no part of, and THAT was the biggest factor in the shelving of SOPA.

And yea, you got me. Anonymous "beat" the US government. That's why they are totally collapsing right now, and furiously trying to cover up the fact that Anonymous totally handed their asses to them by downing a couple of their public websites for a short amount of time. I know everything in Washington just ground to a HALT when that shit went down. Ooooo, Anonymous, don't hurt me! You so scary!!!!!!!!!!!

Puh-leez.
