Are we each individually looking for an Ulitmate game that'll score 10/10 across the board and that will be replayable to the end of time, or are we just moving from one game to the next, hoping it will be better than the last?

What is your Game of Games? And are you disappointed that nothing so far has topped it?

I think you may be confusing a quest with an escape.

I like entertaining diversions, even if flawed.

I like games, but I think that every game has merits and demerits. I don't think there is a perfect game, and to be honest I hope there isn't. That would be the end of new games, and I would hate that.

Clearly by the title you are looking for this [http://www.gamefaqs.com/computer/doswin/home/565196.html].

My personal video game messiah is Okami, and it always will be. Nothing will ever be quite as quirky and traditionally Japanese. Not to mention that playing the goddess of the sun and mother of all creation in a fluffy, mirror-wielding format is awesome.

There is no perfect game. If a perfect game was ever created, gaming would end.

I'm happy with amazing games, though.

There is no perfect game, and I sure hope there won't ever be, because every game made afterwards would just be "meh."

I agree that no games are perfect.

These are the games that I have been most infatuated with:

FFX
City of Heroes
MGS3
MGS4
Splinter Cell: Chaos Theory
River City Ransom
Solar Jetman
Solomon's Key
Street Fighter (Alpha 2, Turbo)
Tekken Series
Counter Strike
BF2142
Goldeneye
Perfect Dark
Metroid

If they invented a perfect game that everybody loved and replayed until the end of time, then the videogame industry would die. There's too much vested interest in this industry for them to release perfect games.

I don't know if I would say "perfect" either, but there are a handful of games that I have that I would've paid four times the price for because they gave me so much enjoyment. All my other "meh" games I might play for anywhere between 30 minutes to 4 hours before giving up on it completely.

Favorites off the top of my head would be;

Star Ocean: The Second Story
Team Fortress 2
Sonic Adventure 2: Battle
Mystical Ninja Starring Goemon
Half-Life 2
Knytt Stories
Cave Story

No one will ever create the perfect game because for it to be 'perfect', there needs to be a unilateral consensus that it can't possibly be improved.

The closest I've ever heard is Portal, and there will be better games than that, so it's not perfect.

Huh, not what I thought this thread was about. I rolled up thinking we were all going to be talking about what kind of game it would take to heal video gaming and restore it to it's former glo-, rightful glory.

My game of games? Hm....

Take the battle system from Shadow Hearts: From the New World (almost unchanged, just readjust the character abilities)
Give it a Branching Dialogue System like the one from Mass Effect
Have a well written branching storyline with several different paths
Give it a new game plus system.
Add some fun "out of battle play"
No Voiceless Protagonists

Voila, this game would be pretty much perfect for me.
