i would probably go to the gun shop, take the best rifle and machete there, go to a supermarket, empty it in terms of zombies, then lock it up as best i can and make sure no lights get through the windows so no zombies that wander near know m there and start a bloody zombie riot and smash through the windows

First off, I need to weapon up with whatever is in the house. Most likely my father would've opened the safe and pulled whatever guns he could to hold the pre-mutated infected. Then whomever of us is still alive, including me, would take all the guns and ammo then get into the heaviest vehicle and with the rules thrown out the window we'd speed as fast and as safely as we could to San Diego where we could end up at the marine or navy military bases or we could get to the air craft carrier and boats and hold up out in the water and most definitely have to hunt for food and supplies.

The only factor is not realizing what would happen along the way even though there would be less of the mutated infected on the highways.

Where i live in the heart of Sherwood Forest in England there is an abandoned railway that has been turned into a nature trail, this comes out into some woodland where i can then travel straight through into the the forest proper with only crossing a few minor (country) roads.

I can clear the town suburban area in 15 mins with very little contact with people i also have outdoor & camping equipment at hand should i need to make a sudden departure.

The problem with England is the lack or readily available weapons though i have a handy selection of garden tools that will do the job & also observes rule No 4 in the zombie survival Guide: Blades don't need reloading!

ALso in the heart of Sherwood forest is the ideal village of Edwinstowe where a friend of mine lives who is also a forest ranger & has access to hand tools, hand weapons & shotguns.

Given that the dead have just started to rise then the Global Communication Network will still be functioning for a short while so it would be easy to make plans to meet up at an predetermined location that we can both get to.

All we would need to do then is either make camp in the woodland or find a suitable farm house/lodge in the area where we can set up a more permanent camp.

I live in a small city, but there's a river at the end of my garden.

First I would secure the house as best I possibly could, and make some sort of basic floating device. There might be zombies in the water. Then I'd pack up with as many makeshift weapons as I could (I'm a uni student, so we don't really have lots of stuff lying around). Mostly kitchen-based. Knives, knives on the end of broomsticks, a pot or pan, maybe even a wok. And a grater, to get some badass kills in with.

During this preparation, I would phone as many friends as possible (I take it, by your admission that the radio words, I would have some coverage at least). Organize to meet outside the city somewhere. See if someone can get some walkie talkies.

Once the plan is in place, I'd set out on the river until I left the city, getting far enough out until I see less signs of infection, before heading cautiously inland to rendezvous with as many that made it as possible. I imagine several others would take the aqua route too, so I'll both meet with friends and battle any interlopers along the way.

I can taste victory already.

head to my high school auto shop and weald a wedge to our hummer then use that to plow down (and this is the important part) the small signs and fences around the main streets so I could get out of suburbia

I'd head down to the stocklands near my house. Not only is there food and supplies there, but it's fairly secluded and right now part of it is under construction, meaning that I'd probably have the means to construct some kind of barricade and/or residence above ground in the scaffolding. Plus there's a block of apartments there so I could probably live up in there if my first option was out of the question.
