I've been waiting for a developer to create an open-world first-person shooter based around resisting an invading army. Saboteur is the closest game to this, but it was third-person, tried too hard to be GTA: WWII, and ultimately the game was plagued by a lot of technical problems.
I know this is not what the developers were aiming for when they created this title, but Homefront could have been so much greater. Imagine that after you were rescued from the prison bus, you were left to resist the invasion as you saw fit. Convert any building you want into your resistance HQ, recruit NPCs, scavenge for supplies and raid Korean depots for ammunition, liberate each area of Colorado with the aid of the locals.
Instead, we got Modern Warfare 2: Rise of the Koreans. At times they almost play like the same exact game. I know that scripted gameplay is more "cinematic" than sandbox-style gameplay, but plenty of games have shown you can strike a good balance between the two.
Kaos Studios, I am disappoint.
