Hussie wants to make a videogame. We all get it on the same day... is it Sburb? Thatd be awesome. Fantasies aside i cant donate since in from England. That said ill probs wanna buy it. Its a spin off though. It will have a completely different story arch.

Im not gonna begrudge someone for making loads of money from optional donations. No one has to donate. So Hussie has every right to make any deal he wants as long as everyone consents.

Now that there's less than 29 to go, can they make it? The suspense is killing me.

All joking aside, I hope it's a really good game. The amount of effort he puts into his unorthodox weave of a narrative while still keeping it "relentlessly light-hearted" is admirable, and knowing Hussie, I have every bit of confidence he can spawn some astounding jewel of a story, regardless of whether or not it can be taken seriously at all.

I'll buy it when it comes out. It can't possibly be the worst thing on the market in ~2014.

Homestuck is the third worst thing only next to Sonic and ponies to ever happen to the internet, but the sad reality is that this piece of shit will get made. (and it WILL inevitably be a piece of shit just by being associated with Homestuck)

So it doesn't matter about how well the game plays or if the story (which is actually a spin-off) is good. Just because it is a homestuck product it is going to be shit.

What about Transformers? A bunch of shitty movies and based upon a children's tv show and yet they have come out with two games that are pretty good.

Judge the game upon the game itself and not because it is a certain property.

Hussy did say that the internet webcomic medium was the only one that could accomodate the particular style of his epic-length novel thing, and that he wouldn't make something a game out of it.

Such a big fat liar. That said, I'll play the shit out of this.

He isn't making a game of the story in the comics. He said that wouldn't be possible. Rather he is making a spin-off that uses elements from the nature of the game SBURB.

It'll be based on Homestuck, of course. But this doesn't mean it'll be anything close to a direct adaptation. That would be impossible! Homestuck is a pretty huge story.

It'll be a little more like a spinoff than an adaptation. Something that draws from the elements already established in the vast Homestuck universe, applied more selectively to a shorter, self-contained story. Homestuck's structure is very open, which suits a highly exploratory piece of freeform media with a huge cast and many silly tangents. This game would be a more formal exercise in interactive storytelling. I'll use elements from Homestuck that I think will be interesting to expand upon in something new, likely with minimal relevance to Homestuck comic canon. Beyond that, things are pretty up in the air as far as plot and characters go. I have some ideas, but the concept will be a work in progress for a good while.

As much as I want this, I can't shake the feeling that Hussie is secretly working for Skaianet and the Homestuck game is just a cover for SBURB. Thereby leading to the end of the world in 2014.

I do admit i'd be biased for this game, but I'd say the same about any game. If someone made a Twilight game, i'd still give it the same thing despite hating Twilight with a severe passion. If they make a good game with a compelling storyline, what does it matter what the parent material was?
