Considering how everybody on this forum is so wrapped up in art, I'ld of thought this thread would be full of posts, as Homeworld really is up there with the very best when it comes to telling an story with artisic merit. Especially the original which uses Adagio for strings to great effect along with the the infamous words "karak is burning" (sheds tear)

Pure Class

Homeworld has great storyline, presentation and the 3D plane RTS system is alot of fun and like Relics other RTS' is noob friendly

Homeworld Cataclysm is my personal favorite but all 3 games are superb.

Ive always found it slightly odd why Relic hasnt released another homeworld as it has a very strong cult following.
It's problems with the fact that Sierra (original publishers) still had the rights to the Homeworld franchise, while Relic was sold to THQ. Only recently has Relic and the Homeworld franchise been placed back under the same publisher. (I believe)

IIRC HW and Relic were only parted for a short time as THQ bought the licence a year after HW2 was released

BTW in the Poll Homeworld is catching up to Dawn of War 154 - 190 votes

still need more votes!

Yes, it's been 2-3 years since Relic/THQ own the rights for Homeworld.

Bit odd that Impossible Creatures only got a few votes, though.

I mean, really now, just look at that box art.

POLL UPDATE:

DOW/DOW2: 190
Homeworld: 157
COH: 88

While we've doubled our support in comparison to CoH (and let them eat our dust), DoW keeps a constant advantage of being 30-40 votes ahead of us. Not nice. I urge you all to get off your behinds and do some serious propaganda! NAO!

Whatever, just wash your hands.

Fleet Command, online.

Yeah, Homeworld! It's important to remember, though, that Homeworld is the oldest of the three lead franchises in this poll. Both CoH and DoW have had installments in the past three years, keeping them fresh in memory and attracting new advocates; so really, Homeworld should have a 30-60 vote credit simply for nostalgia/memory's sake. (It would be more popular than the vote count indicates, if it had a more recent sequel.)

This is disturbing, though (sourced from Wikipedia): "According to Relic Entertainment, the reason for the (CoHO) servers being shut down is the developers' new unnamed RTS project which will be unveiled in August 2011." Sounds like CoHO/CoH 2 to me...

Ugh... :/ Aren't people sick and tired from all those WW2 games... So, okay, a full-blooded COH Online may be into play. Even though COH does badly on the poll...

Fleet Command, online. For Hiigara!

Anyways... Here's that old Eurogamer article from 2008: http://www.eurogamer.net/articles/relic-definitely-looking-at-homeworld-3

Speculation that THQ-owned Relic was working on a new version emerged last year with the news that the US publisher had acquired the franchise rights from Vivendi.

"We're really happy the IP has made its way home, and yeah, we're definitely looking at it. We'll see what happens in the future," Dawn of War II lead designer Jonny Ebbert told us.

Asked whether it was one of the studio's current projects, Ebbert said: "There's always that chance." And are they excited about showing it to the world? "Yes, very, very!" he chuckled.

We also tried it on with Company of Heroes: Tales of Valor designer Chris Degnan, asking him how Homeworld 3 was looking. He replied: "As it always has - behind closed doors. Blacked off. Homeworld 3, obviously, I'm not at liberty to tell you anything about. So, good try!"

Three announced games are in development at Relic: Dawn of War II, Company of Heroes: Tales of Valor and Company of Heroes Online, being co-developed with Shanda for the Asian market.

General manager Tarrnie Williams admitted there were "three or four" titles in the works at Relic. "It depends how you count; whether you use the old math or the new math." He declined to explain the difference.
According to this article though: http://translate.google.bs/translate?js=n&prev=_t&hl=de&ie=UTF-8&layout=2&eotf=1&sl=de&tl=en&u=http%3A%2F%2Fwww.pcgames.de%2FCompany-of-Heroes-PC-107340%2FNews%2FCompany-of-Heroes-2-Enthuellung-koennte-kurz-bevorstehen-810104%2F

... CoHO will be NO MORE, i.e. it is ended, and the new sequel would be CoH2. Here's the blog post from CoH's website: http://www.companyofheroes.com/announcements/one-week-left-for-coho

It says:
Thank you once more for being a part of Company of Heroes Online. Everyone at Relic appreciates the love that fans clearly have for the game, and hope that you'll be pleased with what we're working on as the next step for the franchise.
BUT, that's the team that is ALREADY working (and has been working) on CoH/CoHO, right? Which leaves one more team unaccounted for, right? Wrong (Space Marine)? Hmm... :|

POLL UPDATE:

DOW/DOW2: 201
Homeworld: 180
COH: 92

Possible overtaking of DOW, over. :D Anyways, even if they don't plan on working on Homeworld 3 this summer, at least this poll will tell Relic that people do want it, and have fond memories of it. :) And all in all, we don't know, we just speculate. Thanks to all who have voted, and to those who haven't - please do! Love you all, thanks for the support! :)

WE WIN!
That's funny coming from someone with a Dawn of War avatar.

But seriously as much as I love the Dawn of War series it would be nice to see a Homeworld 3. considering I never got the chance to play the others.

Please please please let it be Homeworld. The original had the best story*, 2 was fun still, and cataclysm was a bit weird but very fun and had a good story**

*(Adagio for strings, made goddamn sadder than the pure strings whilst your home planet burns beneath you after so much was hoped for, as an example)
**(When the beast infects the ship and you discard to bottom half. Oh god the screams.)
