ohhh boy..here we go...

ok as you can figure this is inspried by that little debarcle going on the with Bioware writer..even though apaerently shes got nothing to do with ME3..but thats not the point

now Ill say I know VERY LITTLE about ME3 and i'd actually like to keep it that way [/B] (and yes it seems odd that Im doing an ME3 thread..but anyway), I do know (obviously) that shepard can come out of the closet

so heres what I think

I dont think its really an issue

1. because it was intended from ME1 but obviously they cut it out [/B]

2. you can fuck Aliens...[/B] seriously, take a look at garrus, he's a nice guy but he looks like a velocipator cross with a xenomorph..and femshep can totally get it on with that. Not only Garrus but femsehp can get it on with Liara, oh SURE she's not "technically" female but lets not play around here, thats just Bioware dancing around the issue (and what about kelly chambers? oh right never mind her..move along)

so my point with that is why not? lets make things "eaqual" lets not play around, gay relationships exist, lets not pretend they dont

3. ROLE PLAYING [/B]

and this one I cant stress enough, it seems easy to forget that underneith everything ,ME was originally a role playing game

and there is no "canon"

So that means that YOU decide what shepard is like...My femshep has no interest in Aliens, what so ever, just because the game gives me the option does NOT make it true, she's not going to screw Garrus and she never will or even consider screwing Garrus, or ashley or Liara

so from that as far as Im concerned my Femshep is straight

just like now maleshep and be as straight and gay as YOU want

and thats my opinion..whats yours? (god forbid)

My first maleshep tried to be gay in ME1 & ME2 so in other words, he's been with his hand more than any alien. So he's still gay, and who knows who he might fall for in the third game. Because I sure don't, not yet anyways.

I dislike Bioware romances, maybe once they were good, I have fond memories of Viconia and Jaheria, and to a lesser extent Aerie, I always hated Anomen though. It just seems a bunch of fanservice twaddle nowadays, just another thing to tick off on the Bioware checklist.

It's illogical BECAUSE you can fuck aliens. If humanity is so tolerable of sexual preferences in distant future that they don't care if you're fucking an alien, then being homosexual wouldn't require coming out of the closet. So the whole coming out of the closet thing doesn't make any sense at all.

I don't really give a damn about the homosexual option as long as you can't just easily trip into a relationship with your bro (and this goes with any romance period - I had this problem in ME2. I thought a dialogue option was just me being nice. lolnope)

Seriously, make it harder to romance people. So you actually have to TRY instead of you're talking to someone and suddenly you're in their pants.

Personally I think it's about damn time that they allow for homosexuality in their games.

I think you hit the nail on the head with the fact that it's a ROLE PLAYING game. Hence, if I want to role play a gay Male shep who bangs male aliens, then so be it. If I want to have a straight monogamous Shep who solely bangs Ashely, then so be it.

It's the little things about who the person is and who I say they become that makes this a key issue. If the game wasn't an RPG where tyou could become either good or evil, you could choose to kill people off (in the final mission of ME:2) or you can save them, then canon goes right out the window, because somewhere, somehow, there will be a persons game that contains one character who was not "killed" in the additional stories or lore.

Anyways, bravo to Bioware for allowing this option in ME:3

"coming out of the closet" isnt just about hey world Im gay! you should accept it! its more about coming to yourself

in shepards case its more realising that he/she has feelings for whoever beyond freindship

EDIT: also if its so illogical...ignore it, I dont complain that shepard is a boring typical brown haird white male space marine..why? because he/she doesnt have to be

It's been so long since I played ME1. I had it for PC originally, but my computer apparently could barely run it. So I grabbed ME2 for 360 so now I need to replay ME1 on 360. Once school stops trying to kill me.

Kaiden. I couldn't forgive him for his voice. Within in an hour I had googled his voice actor and found out he was Carth from Kotor. He always dies for me -__-
what I played KOTOR I realised "oh....Kaiden is really carth 2.0"

I don't think you can prove the first point, otherwise they would have tried to feature elements of it in the second one, which they didn't (unless someone CAN provide evidence they've hinted at it).

I am all for acceptance of different romance options, but when something is clearly tacked on to appease interest groups/fans, it's clearly tacked on to appease interest groups/fans.

You can throw out the Role Playing card all you want, Shepard as a character has finite dialogue options and has never in recent games approached male characters hinting at romantic interest. That to me indicates that the writers intended the Male Shepard to be straight. Female Shepard on the other hand, you could have a romantic connection with Liara in the first game. You could say her species is gender neutral, but at least they explored the option of homo/bi sexuality with females. This is of course to appeal to the games intended demographic: Young, Adult Males. And yes, probably straight males.

Don't the NPCs turn you away sometimes? I kinda tried to go for Jack in ME2 with femshep, but Jack turned her down because she says she's not into girls.

true...and charachters do have thier own preferences which is understanable

that doesnt mean there shouldnt have been options, especially (which Ive said a few times) it was origianlly intended

Did you say homosexuality in Mass Effect? But Male Shepard came bursting out of that closet way back in the first game. I believe the customary phrase is, "I'll just leave this here..."

You have to watch it right through for the full effect, and no, it's not fake.

Moving on, well...

*shrug*

It really doesn't bother me. Y'know, being optional and all. Most of the objections I have seen (and I stress "most") appear to originate from people not wanting to have 'teh gay' in their game.

Besides, this means my forbidden love for Grunt can finally be expressed.

I dont buy the "demographic" argument

also uhhh..dont those two staments kind of contradict each other?

also...can you tell me Liara wasnt contructed to apeal to a certain audience? and Tali's romance wasn't pandering to the fans?
