.....And if you don't want to play a game...because it has animal sex, lesbians, giant 20 legged male cock monsters. Don't play the game, we buy these games ourselves no-one is forcing any of this on you, you always have the choice.

People who can't accept these normalitys of life, are pathetic and deeply scared by their parents or friends.

You should be able to accept anything and everything that comes your way and not pre-judge or hate something just because you can't understand why other people like it or want a game made about something....

Well being a Sony user I haven't had a chance to play it, but apparently the titular character in The Ballad of Gay Tony (GTA4 addon) had his sexuality implemented in a good way.

Apparently although his sexuality was key to his character the developers managed to avoid the stereotypical pitfalls and childish innuendo (anyone remember Nico's blind date?) of the first installment.

Retrofitted or not, Dumbledore's homosexuality isn't at odds with anything in any of the books as far as i can remember, so I don't see why he can't be part of the discussion on gay characters.
I suppose Dumbledore could serve as an example of how to do a gay character without being over the top; as a homosexual character who's sexuality isn't his main character trait.

I guess my rejection of his use of an example is that I believe he simply wasn't gay from the beginning. In that sense, he's not a great example of a gay character: especially if people are using his "flaming bird" and his "eccentric dress" as the main deliminators of homosexuality. If our example of how to use homosexuality in our protagonists is based on a straight character with a tacked on homosexual orientation, then it seems like a poor example, especially if the result is people scanning the work in search of homosexual stereotypes to justify the ad hoc characterization.

As Dumbledore stands now, he is poorly and questionably characterized as a gay character.

And because that characterization is so loose, JKR's motivations are important when considering Dumbledore's homosexuality. If she had stated his orientation from the beginning, then he would be a GREAT example.

Probably already been said, but Zevran in Dragon Age: Origins. He's bi, but it didn't stop me from picking him for my party, I also thought most of his comments during the course of the game were quite entertaining, specifically when you reach Haven.
So, really I wouldn't mind if say Gordan Freeman turns out to be gay, but since he never speaks we'll never know. If he does however, sucks to be Alyx.

I want to see a game where the main character is gay and the sexy female sidekick makes an advance on him, and hes like "Sorry, but I'm attracted to men" And the rest of the game consists of awkward talks about sexuality between the two while trying to stop Evil Guy X from killing/obtaining/kidnapping/releasing object/person Y

Who gives a shit. Why does gay culture have to penetrate (lol) everything? You've got people complaining about Avatar because it's has heterosexual themes in it. What the fuck?
I would gladly play and enjoy a homosexual character because, for all I know, they -have- been homosexual characters.
But they haven't been. They're just characters that people made up. It's a pretty safe bet that they're heterosexual if forced to be given a sexual orientation.
