So, I was flicking through the cheezburger website when I saw this...

http://cheezburger.com/7389095424

While Michael Bay does have a veritable obsession for military hardware and explosions, could we get an average Turtle Movie out of him, or dare I saw... a good one.

While Megan Fox would not be my first choice for April O'Neill, I never expected to take Ashton Kutcher seriously as an actor. Then I saw the first Butterfly Effect movie...

I will also raise a target on this post by pointing out that since April is normally the damsel in distress in the movies, wouldn't you want Megan to reprise her role of Plot point? She obviously doesn't take herself seriously given her more ... recent movie choices.

What do you guys think?

Scripts go through rewrites all the time. I'm not opposed to abandoning the source material where it sucks, but if you're making Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles they have to at least be, you know, mutants (not aliens).

I think Fox/Kutcher will ruin this movie more than the script ever could though.

Hope? Michael Bay's still directing this.

Stick to the Nickelodeon show. It's actually good.

Oh yippee, the purists rejoice.

Honestly, I would hope that people would care more about Michael Bay and "Battle LA" Jonathan Liebesman making this movie than whether or not their beloved origin story is changed.

Does she have to be though? Why use the 80's April when the newer turtles have an April O'neil who is a martial artist herself and can fight pretty well.

The original show is so silly I could care less where the turtles come from. Megan Fox as April, though? That girl couldn't report the weather if she were to open a fucking window.

I reckon its a combination of the two - Michael Bay attempting to reboot a beloved 80s cartoon franchise has already happened once, and he managed to screw it up right proper-like in terms of the direction and plot.

Fact is, nobody that's a huge fan got into TMNT because of 'newer' turtles - they got into it for the stuff that came outta the 80s, and their nostalgia is what has kept the franchise alive.

Wanna know how to totally alienate a group of fans when making a cross-platform adaptation of a popular work?
Seriously alter the characters, background and/or setting.

I'm not a huge TMNT fan (though I was a child, just as I was a huge Transformers fan), but I can tell you this - Megan Fox as April O'Neil does not make me want to see this movie more, let alone Mega Fox as an action movie tough-chick-cliche April O'Neil.
