So I'm looking to try my hand at DMing a PnP RPG this summer at my local(ish) gaming bar. I'm planning on giving Numenera a go, since I love the setting a ton and the rules seem pretty easy to work with. Having never DM'd before, I was hoping to get some DM101 advice from an veterans lurking out there online. Thanks for your help, everyone!

Hey, this sub-forum is mainly for playing RPs rather than discussing them. I'd recommend getting this thread moved to Off-Topic, where you'll hopefully get more responses.

My advice is to remember that you and your players are there to have fun, and when things get too serious fun tends to stop and feelings can get hurt. Never trust your players to go where they think they will or should always have a few fall back points to your adventure and your life will be far easier when running.

Stress can cause burnout so try and not stress over the story or the path players may take and don't be afraid to kill off the character that does the stupid stuff or works to monkey wrench your game as the longer you allow them to do it the worse the game could get.

Backster's adivice is pretty good. I would like to add that more than anything else it's a team effort, and it's nice when everyone adds their little piece to the world's story.
