I can't believe no one's mentioned Bioshock yet.
But for me, the best game in terms of horror is The White Chamber.

Said what? The thing about forum posters being lazy?
the insanity effects totally made this game for me.... they more than made up for the spotty gunplay....Dalisclock said:I will agree to a large extent. I really liked the game, except where it gave you weapons and expected you to run around and shoot things, and then it felt like a mediocre shooter *CoughMarshRefineryCough*. However, the part with the Polyps near the end freaked the crap out of me for a couple days.Yog Sothoth said:Eternal Darkness: Sanity's Requiem for the Gamecube is easily the greatest horror game ever made... i can not say enough good things about this game... god, i want a sequel so bad i can taste it...
Seconded. Those Psychic-monsters still make me physically shudder when I come across them. That's VERY bad when you have a mouse with over 1,000 DPI. I usually have to pause the game to catch my breath. Not a Spy said:You cant beat the original S.T.A.L.K.E.R. for creepy atmosphere, that game spent such a long time drawing you into its world and thoroughly creeping you out, that when the scares finally came you were sitting on the edge of your seat, begging the game to relieve the tension.
