Ahhh i remember when i got completely traumatized by Beetlejuice, or when i had to walk home during the winter after watching Poltergeist at my friends house, looking over my shoulder all the way. Or watching They at one in the morning.

I can't remember what movie i last watched, much less the first horror i watched.

I know it's not really a horror movie but the definition of the word 'horror' changed as I got older. I watched War of the Worlds with my sister when I was 12 and to me it was the scariest horror movie I ever saw but looking back on it, it can't really be classified as a classical horror movie.

The first proper horror film for me was 'Alien'. Even though what I saw was mutilated for television, it was still pretty intense.

I also remember 'The Empire Strikes Back' as having some pretty terrifying moments. Let's see... released in 1980, so I was... 11.

Edit: Thank God my first horror film wasn't 'Invasion of the Body Snatchers'. I've always had insomnia without worrying what might happen to me if I fell asleep.

I stayed up all night watching the hellraiser series.

I was a good introduction to the world of horror and I have loved horror even since. I had nightmares about the chatterer for a while though, for the younger members of the escapist, please do not google hellrasier for another good couple of years.

When I was about 8 I watched IT, and thus slept with my light on for a week. But then I became a horror junkie, from that age I watched every horror film I could get my hands on!
I remember when I was 10, my parents were out and I got my dads copy of The Evil Dead 1&2 and watched them by myself, wasnt such a good idea!

Aliens (if that is considered a horror movie)
I developed a warped sense of humor, to this day when Ripley says "get away from her you ***** to the Queen Alien" I always burst into laughter.

As a teenager I got into Evil Dead and Stephen King, good times

Goosebumps:Night of the living dummmie.
I never watch horror movies. Even Caroline scared the living hell out of me. Never again.

I watched IT and Hellraiser whenever I was four years old, by myself, in the dark, no parental supervision.

I must say, I think I turned out quite well. Horror contains metaphor, divine principles, awesome concepts, and symbolism which is usually lost in the regular works of fiction that get passed off as art these days.

Jaws if that's considered horror. I saw it when I was 5 or 6, found it to be more grotesque than frighting. I also remember seeing a special on how they made the shark right after the movie so the film didn't have much of a long term impact on me.

Toy story made me very suspicious of toys, and it always used to play around Halloween.
That spider robot thing with the baby head was absolutely terrifying.

I really don't remember my first horror movie, because my uncle always showed me and my sisters scary movies since I was 3. But the earliest memory I have is the Nightmare on Elm Street series. Truly scary shit when you're a kid.

Humble beginnings...Shaun of the dead. I was about 14, i think. Then, like a gateway drug, I went via george A romero's work that inspired "shaun" and then onto harder and scarier stuff.

And now, here I am, around 6 years later, a huge fan of anything from comedy-horror, to b-movie horror, to the special "insomnia" genre I named myself for films that are just downright terrifying, and I'm trying to become a horror director myself.

What can I say? The scared get up and scare, those that they scare get up and scare...

I don't rememeber what movie was that (something S-F i guess) and thanks to it i was afraid of darkness. I had to fight it, and so i did by descending to our cellar, switching the light off and sitting quietly on stairs. Each time, each day longer, one step lower and lower... It took me some time, but i overcame my fears. ;)

The first horror movie I've ever watched was The Blair Witch Project when I was 10, I nearly f**kin' died! I've always been a little (OK, maybe a lot) paranoid of the dark and being in my house alone. After a while and some therapy later, I finally ventured back into the world of horror movies.

My first horror film is probably some random higher end B-movie about mutant sharks/crocodiles. Think, bad versions of Jaws. I remember watching Deep Blue Sea and a film about a grandmother feeding cows to a crocodile.
The movie was Lake Placid

It was either Nightmare on Elmstreet or Friday the Thirteenth when I was maybe five, come to think of it I had seen a lot of horror movies when I was that little.

Man, my Dad did not have good judgment
