No, but it's probably wrong to laugh at Holocaust movies.

If you can smile during The Pianist your soul might be broken somewhere...

Half the horror movies out there should only be watched if you want a laugh because they are so bad, they are good. Nothing wrong with laughing at people dying.

I watched the new Nightmare on Elm Street and died of laughter.
That movie doesn't even belong to the category "it's so bad it's good". That movie is so bad it makes you wanna kick things...

I laughed when watching a holocaust movie in school once. I feel really bad about it now.
One of my friends sat in a history class and giggled his way through Schindler's List. That was a pretty weird event.

In my humble opinion, it isn't wrong to laugh at anything. Laughing takes the pain and negatives away from bad shit anyway.

But more on topic, I do indeed laugh at most horror films I've seen, especially when they involve a teenage female lead. So much idiocy, it is impossible not to laugh.

I remember doing this as well, I was just really bored and thought a bit of humour would make the film less depressing. Which to be fair, it did.

OT: not at all, especially if it's done in a hilarious way with shoddy FX. Sometimes it's meant to be funny.

There's nothing wrong with laughing at a character's death in a movie. It's just a movie, after all.

Stuff like that usually depends on how it's done, whether it's done right or very poorly, or how attached to the characters you become. Also the kind of movie you're watching. If it's, say, a slasher or torture flick, then it's fine because that's what people want to see in those movies. If it's a bad film then you're just laughing at how poorly executed it is, even if it's a holocaust movie.

There's a lot of films and shows, not just horror, where I do laugh at the death scenes. There's actually few scenes that really get to me.

I laugh all the time at horror movies, mostly when they try to be so shocking that it crosses the line into parody.

I couldn't make it through the ANOES remake without laughing at it. I am an Elm Street Fanatic (I own all the movies, the unrated 5th version available only on VHS, Etc) and being a major fan of the movies, the remake wasn't a travesty, it was sinful. Laughing at it was the only respect I could give it (Jackie Earle Haley did the best he could with the film, and he was the only other good part).

OT: Laughing at horror movies is only alright if the movie is by all accounts, cheesy.
I can laugh at the Saw movies because they are cheesy. Human Centipede, on the other hand, wants to be laughed at, therefore, I can't laugh at it.

If it is trying to be scary, it isn't. If it's trying to not be too scary, it can end up being scarier than most movies in the "Horror" genre today.

You shouldn't laugh at horror movies. However in many cases the way a scene is done (usually poorly) does make me giggle. That and Ive seen so many that I don't find them to be all that, is scary the right word? I suppose it depends on the situation. However if you find a death in a movie funny, and are in a large group such a theater, you should probably try to keep it to yourself for the sake of the other people.

The OP's obviously never seen "Night of the Lepus". Just try to get past the mere concept of "Giant Killer Fluffy Bunnies that's being played completely seriously" without at least a giggle. There's a reason the marketing for that movie kept the monsters a secret.

I end up laughing at most horror films I see now. The only type of horror I get scared from nowadays is probably some horror games, due to the fact that there's more interactivity with it.

Movies of all types can be funny unintentionally. There is also nothing wrong at laughing at characters deaths or point out things. You can worry about offending people if it's a private viewing (if your friends are easily offended) , but don't talk loudly in theaters.

Though....When I watched one comedy, one guy in the theater got annoyed with me and my mom laughing. Which is understandable, but also kind of silly.

90% of horror films made these days are laugh riots. My college roommate and I used to go out of our way to find the worst looking 'horror' films we could find and spend our weekends laughing ourselves silly. We actually found a couple of really good, if not scary, ones. One in particular called Murder Party (admittedly more of a dark comedy than straight up horror) was quite well written and acted. Worth a look, if you can find it in a bargain bin somewhere.
