It's Dice making it, not EA. I find they usually don't half-ass their games, I just don't agree with many of their ideas. I didn't like Mirror's Edge, and as I said previously, Bad Company. But they weren't half-assed. The only half-assed game I can remember is Battlefield: Modern Combat. Which shall not be mentioned anymore.

Probably when it broke every sales record ever.

Just because it broke records, doesn't mean it's king. You can break as many records as you want and you can still not be MVP or player of the year. MW2 can't be king until it fixes itself which it still has many problems. I think a good amount of people would call it a first person hack-n-slash (all those who play with the knife class) rather than a real FPS. Anyways, I wouldn't call any FPS in existence the "King of FPS" because none of them dictate how others are made/played since that's what I think a "king" does. But that's just me.

Also how does treating players better make it more qualifyed to be "King of FPS" than better sales, to me they both seem unrelateable to gameplay. But seeing how every Valve FPS I've played feels as though your floating when you walk and the button scheme is extremely retarded makes me think none of the games deserve "King of FPS." However Modern Warfare two has managed to piss me off everytime I play it so I wouldn't call it the King either.

That doesn't make it the King of FPS. It makes it an overhyped, unbalanced pile of horse manure. I was one of the ones super hyped about it. MW2 let me down in every way imaginable. Let me down so much in fact that I stopped playing it and went back to CoD4.

I personally agree. But most people see that it sold well over 15 million copies in 1 week, so they see it as king.

And as we've seen in the past, most of the industry, save for a select few developers, don't really care what the fans/consumers think.

The one thing i like about Dice is that if they have a creative idea, they actually make it work. 2142 in my opinion has the best teamwork options with the squad menu and all, and even modern combat for the console had the fast swap thing work out well.

Oh... then was Deer Hunter the king of the FPS before MW2? Because Deer Hunter sold a bajilion copies back in the 90s.

Look, I'm as happy as the next guy that console gamers are beginning to learn what good FPS games are like. MW2 is the best FPS game they've ever had. Good for them.

But as far as PC gaming goes: 6-9 hours of gameplay and no dedicated servers does not a "king" make.

To your explanation Goldeneye does all this but I think of Goldeneye to be the Dad of FPS who had children with Perfect Dark and Unreal Perfect Dark birthed the good child called Half Life and Unreal had Halo, Goldeneye then went for a fling with Medal of honour who had MW
