I realise this is a website about gaming but what the hell...

Does anyone else agree that House MD should end?

Its one of my most hated things about American television that there is no arc or defined progress to a series. it gives a shows a meandering quality which makes character development in certain episodes pointless because they just go back to square one.

It feels to me like they should end House and stop milking the teats of the cow before they become black stalactites.....

what do you guys think? is there mileage left in the show?

How should it end? Soon. It went rapidly downhill towards the end of series one, where they ran out of interesting medical cases and started focussing on *shudder* 'personal interest' stories, then it became just another mediocre drama.

I don't think the writers really understood that it was at first successful precisely because it ignored all that 'boo hoo I don't love you anymore, oh wait I do' bullshit that so many other shows trade in.

I am a huge House fan, and I think it should've ended a season or two ago.
They really need to stop now.

I think the last story/relationship arcs needed to end.

But I am curious as to what happens next, if they "reboot" the entire series? They may find something that works now.

House MD should have ended 2-3 years ago. Either he should have kicked his habit and slowly started building a life, without all the Huddy bullshit, or he should have OD'd in the scene (you know the one).

I read somewhere that this upcoming season will be the last.

Who knows though, they just signed a deal for a new actress on there, they may have plans to keep leaching its life out.

I thought you were going to say, "for the show's benefit." It seems you just don't like it. My recommendation: don't watch it (I haven't watched it in a while myself).

The only thing that ever really appealed to me was the character and its fantastic portrayal by Hugh Laurie. The last episode I caught, he was in a mental hospital (as a patient). That was fun.

I don't understand complaining about a show you don't like. Why not complain that Family Guy should end since it hasn't been great in over 3 years? That would make more sense to me.

Im a huge fan and I'm waiting for how the next season turns out, season 8, before I decide if I want more. The last seasons ending was to much of a WTF moment to end that way. :p

Why I love the show is because I find House to be a very interesting and likeable character, despite him being an ass. He believes in all these rules on how humans are and how to treat them, but when it really matters, has trouble believing in them himself.

Meh.. ill pose a different position. It should stay on the air. Because for fox what is the alternative really? yet another hour of mundane and horrible reality tv? Seriously, no thank you. I dont care if House has humped the shark to the point that the shark is filing rape charges (yes I know its jumped the shark) Id still rather watch a slightly better than average medical show with a snarky protagonist, than hear about how Amy thinks that Rico needs to chill out and team up with her because together they can win this competition.

So yeah, no matter how bad house may get its still a world better than "Whats causing all this itching and burning Island"

That episode in the mental hospital was almost 3 years ago.

The character of House crossed the line from "quaint asshole" to "sociopath" a LONG time ago.

I believe it should have ended after his rehab trip in the final,it was a fantastic ending and really should have been the end for house with them now focusing on the charcter arc bullshit its grown bland and uninteresting.

Indeed. They should cease production on House M.D., and begin production on House P.R.

Yes, I know I've posted this before. No, I don't care. It's so awesome, I feel I must spread the joy it brings to my fellow forum-goers.

the only good thing about house in the last few years was the beginning of season six.
i actually could end right now, there isn't a lot of stuff that went unresolved.
then again, which show in it's 7th or 8th season is actually good? (not counting stuff that does not have a real continuity.)

I actually really liked season 7. He went back to solving puzzles while doing drugs and fucking hookers. Good times.

Yeah it probably should have ended a few seasons ago. I really liked the show, but the problem with House is that any steps the titular character makes towards being a better person detract from what made the show initially popular, so every season they need to hit the magic re-set button on his character to make him the way he was. This causes them to revisit the same issues multiple times. One of the worst examples of this is the issue with House seemingly finding a solution to his leg pain that turns out to be either short-lived or a Faustian bargain, something which they have done about 4 times throughout the series. Its too much. Please end this madness...

I love House, but think it should have ended a few seasons ago now. It's way to personality focused than medically now.
