I recently managed to get hold of a copy of the HotD: Overkill and have been enjoying it quite a lot.

I was just wondering if anybody else has played it yet if so what are your thoughts about it if any?

I don't own a Wii, but so far this game has been the closest to making me want one. I'll probably buy it for my best mates birthday if he doesn't get it before.

I have not played it, but am looking forward to. Can you tell me something about it?

I think it is hands down the best arcade style rail shooter ever released for a home console.

It's a little too easy but the extras (which work like achievement points - only better) keep you coming back for more.

It's absurd funny
OTT funny
Self referentially funny

It has more bad language than any other game I've ever played and manages to get away with it because you know it's just a big pastiche of the genre.

Single player, Two player, Dual Wield...

It's just about the most genuine fun (remember fun?) I've had playing a videogame for years!

It's essentially a Rail Shooter adaptation of Planet Terror. The cutscenes are brilliantly done and very funny. The gameplay itself is very good with frantic sections and some very good pacing and interesting bosses.

My only complaint with it would be that the difficulty varies between brutally unfair in single-player (but that's probably because I'm new at playing these games) and it can be very easy in 2-player (except the last couple of levels).

Essentially it is just pure fun (as the posters above said).

Oh, just one more thing, it certainly deserves it's Mature rating when the last boss appeared I understood what the developers meant when they said they were doing things they couldn't do in arcades.

I think the actual ending ending (where they're talking about it all) is absolutely perfect!

Its great. definitely not one for the kids, the language is atrocious, which is awesome :) it's basically playing GrindHouse of the Dead, since its basically a grindhouse flick.

Its a very accessible game. Great for quick blasts.

I didn't get on with RE: Umbrella Chronicles because I got tired of having to replay the same section after 'continue'. HotD: Overkill has the Arcades at its roots.

I'll wait until Uwe Boll makes it into a movie. Because if something is beloved enough for that man to aggressively destroy it, it's got to be good.

I got it and it's a brilliant game.

The humour in it is well done and over the top, and the game itself is very fun to play, I think this is the best arcade shooter in a while, beating out ghost squad (but that's still a great game too) and I am putting it up there with my favorite, Time Crisis 2.

There appears to be a fair bit of unlockable content as well, some of which being dual gun mode, different weapons, directors cut mode, and more.

I haven't got far enough yet, but I hope there is a mode where there are limited credits, that would seal the deal for me.

In fact I was just planning to go and play that now, so I think I will.

Me and my Girlfriend's brother are playing through it at the moment, funny how a grain filter can turn shitty dialogue (a staple of the HOTD games) into sheer awesome.

The music is hilarious too.
