I'm fond of a spot of Macbeth. "...A tale told by an idiot, full of sound and fury, signifying nothing". Man I love that quote.

I have never been a fan of plays, the only exception might be Serj tankian's play that will be released in 2010. If anything for the music.

Words. Words. Words.
I would personally argue that Shakespeare's writing style, characterization, and wordplay are very clever even if the actual subject matter isn't always top quality. Yes, the story behind Romeo and Juliet is as tired and cliche as they come, and that makes producing a mediocre play with that kind of material to work with no small accomplishment. But on the whole, I agree for the most part. The vast majority his work is average or worse. Hamlet and Othello are the two pieces of the bard's work that I personally feel are truly timeless and exceptional, worthy of lasting recognition.

I also have to agree with A Midsummer Night's Dream. Either that or Caesar.

But most of the rest of his work really didn't get at me.

I've only read a few in school but Hamlet and Macbeth really tickled my fancy. Othello was ehh, as was Romeo and Juliet.

The only one of his works that I really don't like is The Taming of The Shrew. I don't now why, I just hate it.

Much Ado. Anyone who doesn't think Beatrice and Benedick were the best couple in the history of ever is Rong.

Macbeth is awesome in that "it's a 450 year old slasher movie" sort of way.

What I love about Shakespeare is that he used the same ideas over and over and he stole a great deal of them from Ovid's "Metamorphoses". Not only that, but he often just invented words when he needed one to fit in with his poetry...

Anyway, I liked the whimsical nature of A Midsummer Night's Dream.
