A few years ago I had a big health scare, I am fine now but at the time it got me thinking about my funeral. Now I mostly don't care about it as I will be dead but I do want to give people one last laugh so on the way into the church I want this playing

and when I get put in the oven I want this

Hey, since this is a music thread, I gotta ask - what are some good techno bands? Beyond Daftpunk, I guess. Something in the vein of MoS's New Black Gold? Anyone got something to recommend?

Well, there certainly are many things wrong with these sentences... ignoring that for now.

If you look for good electronic music you should go find it yourself in my opinion. The freedom of sound design with this type of music creates a lot of variance. There are quite a few youtube channels dedicated to promoting artists in that particular field like Monstercat, ENM, Tasty Network... just browse their videos. Based on your "New Black Gold" example (which is kinda pop-ish chill) you can start by trying out some of the things labelled chillstep or maybe glitch or trap (I'm a fan of Glitch Mob myself). If you like Daftpunk I would recommend Uppermost.
But really, just browse.

Heh, sorry, I haven't heard much electronic music (I guess saying techno's taboo?). I do like what I have heard, but I just don't know where to start or what's best to really get into it.

Okay, I'll look some of them up. Thanks for the help!

I think this does it. Really briefly featured in Portal 2, which is a shame because it would have fit wonderfully at the end of the game. Great song by a great band.

This is what I listen to when I'm feeling particularly down, or feeling that lack of confidence that just pops up now and again.

As opposed to something like this. When I just want to listen to something heavy and bob my head/headbang/etc. Or I'm angry for whatever reason.

I find this piece of music rather emotional:

I have always found Shostakovich to be rather underrated, and this movement is my favourite of his. Here is another piece of music that never fails to send a shiver up my spine:

Nothing quite beats listening to these at work.

I very much agree - I only discovered his works by chance, and his music has never ceased growing on me since. Are you familiar with Op. 107? It's absolutely brilliant.
I have yet to find a movement of Shostakovich that I haven't enjoyed. He is consistently brilliant in my opinion.
