I've been enjoying it heaps. My only issue with it so far is the fact I have to leave for work soon and I can't play it...

Another small curiosity is the "help I'm being robbed" things.... I'm a mass murderer and steal cars every 10 mins but somebody else does it? Not on my watch, buddy!
I usually get thanked and when they turn to walk away I shoot them in the back of the head... at least when I'm Trevor.

I guess I'm in a very small minority here because I fucking hate the game. I guess the GTA series just isn't for me anymore. I loved San Andreas; I still play that game to this day. I tried playing GTA4 and gave up on that POS after about 10 hours of play. This game seems way too much like 4.

I did the intro mission, and then the first mission with Franklin where you have to repo cars with your buddy for Simeon. I get in the car, chase my buddy around the city in the most retarded pattern possible (instead of just driving back to the dealership), and end up in some parking lot where the cops just suddenly show up. Now I'm on my own, forced to flee from cops for no fucking reason, and I can't seem to shake them. No matter how fast I drive, no matter how many turns I make, or front yards I drive through, or cliffs I jump the car off, the goddamn cops are practically attached to my rear bumper. After about 5 minutes of driving around (and smashing the shit out of my car in the process because the streets are full of cars that will change lanes and cut you off or just pull in front of you for no reason) I finally manage to shake the cops into their search mode. I then head off in the totally opposite direction they are searching only to have a cop magically spawn right in front of me and BAM! wanted level restored; start running again, squirrel! Again, I drive like hell to shake the bastards (with only a 2 star wanted level, mind you) and eventually get away. Now I can head back to the dealership, which is on the other side of the damn city from where I currently am. I start carefully driving what is left of my car only to have a cement truck switch lanes on me, sideswipe me, and send me crashing. Full of rage (both video game and real life), I get out of the car, drag the truck driver out of his truck, and proceed to stomp his skull into the street until I start to feel a little better. Then I get back into my car.......

and spend the next 30 seconds trying to get the damn thing to start. *sigh*

Game turned off. What a pile of crap. Who wants a slightly used Xbox360 version of GTA5?

I don't want a life simulator. I don't want realism. I play games to have fun, not to do work or simulate life. I don't want to deal with a car not starting; I want to get in the car and drive away. I don't want to have to feather the throttle and deal with touchy steering that overcorrects for the slightest movement, but when you need to make a quick 90 degree turn, suddenly the car turns like an aircraft carrier. None of that is fun. I had absolutely no fun with this game.

If you are having fun and loving this game, good for you. Like I said, I guess this franchise just isn't for me anymore. I tried; I didn't like; I'm done. Thank you and goodnight.

Fuck yeah Trevor. And Franklin is kinda cool, one of his outfits makes him look like Young Jeezy. Although the Mustang knockoff is so hard to find :( And I end up losing mine and then shelling out a ton of cash to supe up a new one. The Infernus surprisingly sucks in this one.

I hope they actually did put Bigfoot in the hills somewhere, and I'm glad we got to see the Grove reincarnated with the new graphics. So far I'm loving the game, although the desert bit is a tad small. I wanted to go off-roading and look for alien parts, I'm so excited to see what they unlock.

The only thing I'm worried about is during the mission where
you torture that guy
...I had this huge grin that wouldn't go away, I started laughing uncontrollably, and I took waaaaay to much joy in that. I seriously scared myself.

EDIT: Also the dude above me never played Need for Speed Most Wanted apparently...you know, the first one. The good one.

How far into the game are you?

OT: I'm loving it. I played it for over 12 hours straight yesterday. Absolutely everthing in this game is amazing. I do wish that you could pet Chop though.

And that torture mission got taken way out of context.

I'm loving it so far, a lot better than IV, and I liked IV. I like all the main characters, but Trevor is hands-down my favorite.

Probably my favorite thing to do in the game is play as Trevor and just insult random pedestrians. If they start running, I simply chase after them like the crazy man I am while continuing to ridiculing them until someone has the sense to call the cops.

Just about halfway now. Last save was around fifty percent.

...there's a Strangers and Freaks mission where I hunt Bigfoot isn't there.

Im loving this game. I had high expectations and they have been met. Its by far my favourite GTA so far and the soundtrack is actually really good (when gerry rafferty came on the radio i was blown away)

Im not going to say that GTA IV was a bad game but it was 90% of what it shouldve been GTA V is that other 10% and it makes a HUGE difference. The driving is good, the shooting is an improvement and everything seems more solid like red dead. As usual with any GTA game its not just one thing that makes it good its a collection of all the tiny little attentions to detail that chances are only 50 % of players will notice but the other 50% will notice something else. To say rockstar have recreated SA from the ground up and added every last detail is incredible and it really makes the city come alive as opposed to any other bland open world game. Every street has something interesting and if your willing to explore the mountain regions (id recommend you get a helicopter first) you wont be dissapointed either. Theres also so many activities missions and sidemissions going on and a load of random encounters. At one point i was doing a mission thats very trevor and micheal orientated and it took a while to organise. I went back to frank and his inbox was flooded and my minimap was littered with icons

In conclusion the attention to detail is what makes this game great and the 3 characters add so much variety and weed out any stale spots in missions

Go replay the "Predator" mission and look very closely with your thermal scope...

Best trevor moment
i was doing that mission where franklin trevor and lamar get ripped off and buy that brick of drywall and you have to escape. Not only was it amazing when trevor realised the coke was fake and saved lamar and franklins ass but when escaping on jetskis i decided to follow trevor (at first i didnt think you had a choice). I climbed the ladder onto the dock and got in a car, obviously the game decided that for some arbritrary reason that id left trevor behind even though he was next to me. So i got out and went to catch up with him and next thing i see hes trying to outrun the cops in a forklift needless to say that was a fission mailed but still hilarious

I spend a metric fuck tonne on car mods, park it in what I am told is a safe place to park it, complete a small mission and poof its gone for good. They each seem to have there own car but it over rides better ones... Like Franklin has this racer type car, I modded it and then got him a porche looking car and modded that, for ages it stuck at his house but then one time, poof!
I think Rockstar is aware of how their car saving system is still utter shit. So instead of fixing it, or just copying what the very first Saints Row did (save as many cars as you want, and if one is totaled spend many to retrieve it), they just gave each character a pretty fast car on their own lot.

The first thing you need to learn when playing GTA is 'Don't value any vehicle'.
Actually, you can retrieve lost cars by heading to the impound and paying to release them.

Trevor is the most disgusting, horrible, evil, filthy, degenerate of a man I have ever witnessed..

I love him. He is the most amazing character I have ever seen. I love him.

OT: (More on topic anyhow) gta V is one of my most favourite games ever. It is amazing, the characters are great, the story is great, the world is great, the writing is great.

It is great!

I'm having a great time, so far, but it's difficult for Rockstar to really flesh out the characters, between three of them, to the point that they have in the past.

As well, the first heist is spectacular, but, you don't really get enough of those kinds of missions. The weapons customization is nice, as well, though, I find myself wondering why I would ever buy the property. Remember to help people, on the street, too, as it pays off. I retrieved a bike for some random bugger and he rewarded me with 100,000 shares of his companies stock.

Its pretty damn awesome. I've had uncomplicated, shameless and badassery sand box fun with GTA5, its my choice for GOTY as well so far in a lack lustre year.

It has its kinks IMO (Not enough heists and simplistic development of your "crew" for the low number of heists you do go on, the dodgy camera angles when reversing, the torture sequence, etc), but overall a marvellous romp that will only set you back $79 Australian dollars.

Seconded, he was my favourite character to play of the three. It's also hilarious as well to switch to Trevor after a few Michael or Franklin missions, to see what current mischief he was up to before assuming control.
