I'm not talking about controls or something like that, I'm talking about the weird camera. It seems like I can never spot an enemy before he sees me! What am I doing wrong?

Are you using First Person view and the proper camoflage? You need to change between First and Third Person views or else you will always get caught. Always make sure your camo fits the situation as well. Don't be afraid to kill anyone it only makes one boss fight "harder". I use the word harder loosely. Just remember this is a stealth game so don't around killing everyone you see either.

With a magazine or something to read when the cutscenes kick in, of course! *rimshot*

It's a problem, and nothing you're doing wrong, they fixed it in MGS3 Subsistence where they let you move the 3rd person camera around.

Just going to have to make excessive use of first person and wallhugging.

Still my favourite MGS though.

Thats more a how to play MGS4 :p

OT: Use camo, it is your fwiend, camo loves you a huggy bunch in that game, and make sure you fit silencers to anything that can have one, it helps MASSIVLY and 1st person view :3, I dont know how you're having trouble with MGS3, its one of the easiest mgs games out there.

Wrong game, your thinking of 4.

Don't run is the best way, it also helps to always have the motion scanner thing on the go. I will admit they do blend in REALLY well. I have played that game MANY times and I still get caught out by some guards, I know where most are but them few don't half fill my boxers!

I'm playing standard, I couldn't find the subsistence version. I should also note that this is my first attempt at playing a mgs game.

In that case, first person mode is absolutely your best friend. In subsistence, you can control the camera, in standard you cannot. Never enter a new area without scouting it out in first person. If you have the radar map, use it use it use it.

Play Subsitence, camera problems fixed. Or if you can't get a copy, just keep looking in first person or I think there's a radar item you can use.

First person, also crouch don't crawl. You'll be able to see better. Also the Tiger Stripe is the most effective (standard) camo for most areas if you don't want to change all the time.
My favorite tactic is to silently tranquilize the guards, and then stab them while they are sleeping so they don't get back up. Using the a normal pistol will alert them, but they don't seem to notice the hypodermic needles if you miss the headshot.

Hope that helps you enjoy (arguably) the best MGS game.

Easy.

You play it over and over and over and over again. :D

Aside from that, you want to use camo, cover, crawl, and suppressors. Also, when using the various radars, do NOT keep them on. Click them on, and then off. If you have the smallest amount of brain cells, you should be able to predict their patterns of movement.
