I am moderate against call of duty. I don't hate it out right but I don't love it to pieces. I'm a campaign man so this is how Call of Duty: Ghots campaign could be more than dogs and fish. Firstly, if you didn't already know, Ghosts has nothing to do with Ghost. A character that most Call of Duty fans hold dearly and I'm sure some people who dislike Call of Duty found him moderately interesting. Call of Duty ghosts could have been a character driven story that reguvination the franchise by being about the origin story of Ghost (Simon Riley). There is a comic series about the origin of ghost, which in fairness I haven't actually read but I have only read the summary of the entire thing, and, if written well, could have been a story campaign with a rich character focus on ghost, revealing details about his troubled childhood, and could have been a campaign that made you make choices as in Black Ops 2 that would lead to different out comes etc. The formula for gameplay would also be changed as there would be the normal shooting aspect but there are also other things such as tailing people and there would be opportunities for open level stealth as well. Infinity Ward missed a golden opportunity for a good and possibly good length story campaign that is a good story in itself and one that would definitely play into the fans hands by being about one of their favourite characters.

I never got the obsession over Ghost.

Did he have any distinguishing characteristics apart from the fact he wore a balaclava with a skull on it? Any at all? Because I sure can't remember any.

...

Well, I guess that means he had one more feature than every other character in the series. That must be why he's popular. Hurr hurr hurr.

BUT THE SKULL BANDANA WAS COOOOOOOOOL!

OT: I would have been honestly suprised if COD: Ghosts was about Ghost, because the word ghosts in the title is a plural, which would mean it would be about multiple characters called ghost if we were going by that.

I dunno, I have always enjoyed the COD campaigns, but they are more focused on the Multiplayer, which is why I usually don't end up buying them.

Probably something to do with the plummy cockney accent that, if CoD was set 70 years ago, would likely have included in it's vocabulary the words, "guv'nah", "Jellied Eels" and "I'll cut 'is fwoat fer a shiny sixpence, cock."

It's a novelty, to say the least. In fact I'm sure we over here take it for granted that the main player characters in the hugely popular Modern Warfare series are British.

Not that it does anything to improve the game, but something that's noticeable.

So why can't it still be a character driven story that rejuvenates again? Why is the character Ghost the only thing that could save CoD from having another paint-by-numbers cookie cutter campaign?

Now granted, it being CoD puts it in an uphill battle to prove that it can have a story-driven and epic campaign but I am incredibly glad that it didn't involve Ghost from the game, if for any other reason we know what happens to Ghost in the end. Ghost's only characteristic that differentiated him from every other guy in the campaign was that he was a grizzled bad-ass war guy...oh wait...everyone was like that. Well, he had a bitching scarf around his face so I guess (unfortunately) that's enough to make him the deepest character in the game...

I feel as though you were channeling the spirit of the Hitcher during that:

Anyhoo I think it's quite strange to be moaning that Ghosts could have been so much more when we haven't even played the damned thing yet.

Wait, what?

I wasn't aware the game had released already.

Or are you just using the silly trailers they showed us to base an entire opinion about how the game is 'obviously' going to be bad?

This.

Why don't we wait for the game to release before making judgments, even though it is... just another... Call of Duty... right?

P.S. People play CoD for the campaign? I haven't done that since MW1.

I know it's Call of Duty and dosen't really warrent alot of high expectations but you could at least give it a chance to prove that it sucks before going on about how it could have been so much more...

Besides you never know it could still be about "Ghost" Riley only in this game he's an actual ghost after being killed in Modern Warfare 2. He could lead a team made up of various other player characters that have been killed off throughout the entire series explaining the plural in the title, this squad of ghost soldiers could then be tasked with protecting the realm of the living from the supernatural forces of darkness led by ghost Hitler or something... also there's a dog in there somewhere.
